First of: it is hard to find out the age of users without voice chat, but yes, SS13 is NOT a game for kids, despite it’s graphics.
An age restriction of 16+ would be fine I suppose. Although I think 18+ would be more appropriate, I understand that a not too small part of the player base is between 16-18.

That is not really possible, as mentioned. But it is a good way to indicate to new users what is expected of them in terms of behaviour and what the general playerbase is like.
Also depending on the servers location things can get spicy with minors playing spessmen if there should ever be a lawsuit. Better safe than sorry.
was planning on making an anonymous poll to see how many players are actually minors, as of a discussion with topith about how much % is underaged on bee. Also people aren’t dumb and as @Doctor_Ape said, no minor would tell you that directly when asked so we cannot effectively test specific users, but a poll like that just might give us a glimpse into the demographic of bee players. Also if it is 70% like @super12 said I will be impressed.
P.S. Topith if you meant 60% or whatever else you bet on tell me before I make the poll I just want to see who’s right.
I have personally made the realisation that really i just want bee to be another tg one day and then a slightly different other thing later. I forget the fact that for “that one” experience there is always its own server. And now that bee is shaping out to become a unique server, i appreciate it more since i can always move elsewhere for my needs, but it does hurt to start over and or to have ping on a server that was made to fill the niche i want, but bee should be whatever it wants to be.

- Label server as 18+ only
- Continue to ban for ERP and fully erotic content, and ensure we’re still seen as a non-erotic server
- Don’t verify user age, but ban based on “Don’t ask, don’t tell”
Server is labled as unfriendly to minors and people click claiming they are 18 and our asses are covered so long as we toss out anyone dumb enough to prove they aren’t 18.
That’s hypothetically how we would do it at least. You know if this was a discussion we were hypothetically having right now and hypothetically considering implementing. It’s also something I have definitely not hypothetically discussed before.

If only that were true.
Also asking to verify age via some manner of legal document opens up a whole new legal can of worms. Because in certain countries that may or may not be illegal since we…arent a government entity.

DADT, ban if evidence pops up, is basically how most communities do it and it’s just fine.
I don’t think it’s websites’ responsibility to vehemently police and check your age, you have parents and your own will for a reason, and besides, a lot of sites that allow minors are honestly a hell of a lot more dangerous than spaceman game (tik tok, instagram.)
granted im biased because this is how we always did it on the internet. most of us ss13 boomers who aren’t ssethtiders were minors when we played
I don’t think racism is really negotiable, banning it keeps the community from festering and stinking too much.
This isn’t even politics, allowing it just degrades public communities into cesspools of cringey signalling.
