I just don’t see the point behind this at all, this will not limit power gaming, just make people be slightly more efficient when deciding what to put in their bags. As other people have stated, this will limit what to shove into your bag for RP, synths, alcohol, etc. This doesn’t bring any major benefit and is a huge amount of work and distribution for normal players as well.
Get something sharp and cut bedsheets or gauze into cloth and use that to make yourself a duffle.
I kind of wanna see the Ghetto-Maxed Duffel Meta, every assistant skateboarding around the station in jackboots and a jacket, with a full toolbox in each hand, a duffel on their back, and a locker dragged behind them.
Do they really need more storage though? Wanting and needing are two very different things. I barely have anything in my bag when I play security. Here’s how my loadout is, keep in mind I play a plasmaman so I effectively lose a pocket slot.
- Security belt, default contents except I switch the baton on and leave it in the last slot for hotkeys
- Boots and vest filled with spare cuffs
- Pockets filled with e-bola and plasma internals tank
- Disabler in suit storage
- Backpack filled with spare baton I spawn in with and a billy club
If things get researched I’ll grab a telescopic shield for my backpack, and obviously if I grab lethals I’ll swap things around for ammo. But I am equipped for every reasonable situation within your current parameters of 3 normal sized items in a bag.
People who carry donuts/quadsec will have to choose between forgoing essentials, their actual equipment, and whatever they choose to powergame with, donuts/quadsec/etc.
i’m assuming when he says more he means more than 3 normal items like he did in the testmerge, not more as in more than we already have. I think we’re at a good state for things right now.
Under the test merge conditions, your internals box, stun baton and billy club fill your entire backpack.
Yeah. that, botany or getting lucky with personal locker spawns. still weird that half of the departments are missing colour coded bags.
Yeah, good. I am fully equipped what do I care? If I REALLY need to carry something I can swap out my extra cuffs for some storage or use the remaining space in the internals box.
I think the inherent idea of the PR is good because people do actually take and keep way more stuff on their person than they reasonably need to. But I would tweak it a little bit if it were my PR.
- Increase belt size
People really shouldn’t be rocking a toolbelt/medbelt/secbelt combo in their bag
- Eliminate box loophole
I am surprised it wasn’t done a long time ago honestly. Toolbelts in boxes becomes far less of a problem if it isn’t a magic pocket dimension anymore.
- Increase size of big ticket items only
Precedent around this already with medkits being made too large to fit in your backpack. IMO at this point the only items left to enlarge are weapons. Cleavers/disablers/batons/sawn-offs should be made large enough that they are THE item you keep in your bag that you have to plan your remaining slots around because of their power. My train of thought extends to PTSDs too but its a lot less trivial to just change those and expect heads to function than the weapons I mentioned before.
Still haven’t dove into it, but specifically I’m thinking the sec belt should have the same capacity as all other specialty belts - it currently has less slots for some reason.
I know you have concerns about ballistics in particular.
It is entirely possible that I add a new size class instead of changing normal.
We currently go from small → normal → huge. I could add a Large into that and swap certain but not all items.
I’d still probably increase normal items to a size of at least 4 though, just so it scales more smoothly
people aren’t just rocking about with a bag full of guns. Under testmerge conditions my bag was made up entirely of my internals box, a box of cigars and my heirloom space law book. I felt fucking crippled it was soul crushing
I don’t know man, I already lose shit constantly and forget random stuff because I couldn’t carry them as is (pre-pr) thanks to funny add. This change is just going to make me want to shoot myself, because now i’ll have to make several trips to get stuff, without forgetting what I needed on the way and without being able to store random shit in case I’ll need them later on in the construction project, for example.
If it’s supposed to make storage easier to navigate or something, this is just going to shift the problem from inside the bag to outside of it. It’s not going to be fun, and I genuinely don’t think I’ll be playing the game anymore if my rounds just become “walking back and forth between 2 areas for no reason : the game”
What issue is this PR even fixing ? I’ve not seen anyone complain that the current storage space breaks RP/immersion or that antags/secs are way too buffed from it
terrible pr in my opinion
Family heirloom nerf? Based??? Unironically though, it’s a negative quirk. What did you expect.
If this PR goes through right now I would say cigar boxes should be turned into small items so people can still use them to RP, but you could always put them loose in your internals box.
This isn’t space you lost, you can put things in there. You are already using that space in your backpack so might as well use it.
Willing to elaborate on exactly why? Just saying you dislike doesn’t help to improve it.

I did it the very instant Taylor brought it up the first time in Discord.
one would fit in the box alongside internals and epipen. One cigar
its an unnecessary change
Thank you for your detailed and helpful insight.
I’m sorry, do you genuinely think losing A THIRD of your storage space is even slightly comparable to a seventh ?
Family heirloom should straight up be a 2 points quirk if this happens, because it’s gonna be much more than a slight inconvenience but instead a major handicap
Real MLG GAMERS will take unstable quirk and family heirloom then toss away the heirloom. No need for mood once you become insane!
Weird tangent. How has mining been affected so far? Id expect them to get it the worst, already kinda struggle with inventory space as is and duffel is pretty risky…
Did not know storage was a big issue, (I don’t think it is still), we are still here playing for fun (right?)
anyhow:
As a non-antag my bag always had space available for random items (plushies/snack/items of my patient) which wont fit anymore with my department loadout.
And as an antag my bag is usually full of either purchased gear or stolen items (which I won’t be able to carry if I also want to keep my department loadout)
Note: I also am a family heirloomer
Also I feel this will create more issues with people cough “powergaming” extra spaces (jackboots, jackets, heck I’d steal a command cape for that extra storage!)
