Iâd like to highlight that fanny packs can be readily produced by botanists with two cloth and one leather.
Thereâs also thee of Blue, Red and Brown fannypacks sold in the Clothesmate vendor.
basically anoying the players and wasting shift time (a very limited resource in the whole balancing act of making an engaging shift) byâŚ
for the sake of âconflictâ is a terrible idea. not having the tools to do something wont âCREATE MORE ENGAGING CONFLICT.â what engaging conflict is there to be had with fewer big items other than having pleople go around the station to get them. and no people in stressfull or high risk situations with this limitation wont magically gain engaging conflict points with this system theyâll just get FUCKED or at least waste precious time doing busywork.
it will just anoy the crew and somewhat dicentivise the use of some tools.
inventory managment is already a PAIN why hurt people even more for very DUBIOUS and unproven theoretical gains.
as others have pointed in the PR comments⌠the box idea is FINE those boxes are kinda wierd⌠but the medium items thing is just utterly useless and pretty much only there to annoy people, fuck with antags, slow the game pace for very dubious and minimal benefit
oh and RIP vanity items. anything thatâs not tacticall and is medium or bigger why waste valuable space slots to⌠a skateboard or booze or what have you. so thatâs a blow to social interactions and RP⌠nice going
As I said on discord. Clowns now have space for 2 pies and the box. Thatâs it. The pies canât be put on pockets, canât be placed inside boxes. Janitors will be forced on using the janicart because theres simply not space for everything. Building stuff will be horrible since you can only transport 2 sheets of materials. This is not a good idea
i find this Pr is just , it has no purpose other then makign a problem thats not needed to be created. so i just say ![]()
You see, with the old system you were sort of rewarded for being organized and punished for being messy, though perhaps not intentionally. If you had three boxes in your inventory you could keep things organized and store a lot more, contrarily if you just tossed things into your bag it would fill up quite quickly. This mirrors real life to a high degree, organized bags can store a lot more and the difference between having an organized, say, backpack while traveling or having a disorganized one is huge.
This sort of removes that distinction, youâre no longer really rewarded for being organized, itâs pretty much the same whether you toss everything in or donât.
Bluespace capsle, carry 2 duffel bags. Closets or crates
What about the smugglers satchel?
Smugglerâs satchel is still and will remain a pocket dimension of sorts because thatâs literally its gimmick.
who wants to be dragging a crate all the time???
Its gonna become a rush to find all the hidden ones in the floor for that extra storage
Weâll see. And maybe this change wont be permanent
Right now this is where Iâm at after doing my best to keep up with and sift through various feedback (mostly via discord).
Iâve not been able to respond to every point directly.
If you dislike this PR:
Please explain in full details exactly why, what items are you used to being able to carry that you canât and why do you think you need to have them readily available as opposed to grabbing them from a table when needed?
This is the most helpful form of feedback I can work with and try to talk with you about.
Sometimes I setup six servers and Iâd prefer if I can have the six scanners, six boards, 30 iron and a spare cable coil (and a toolbelt) required for this task on me so I donât have to roleplay slow asthmatic jogging simulator 2023 and run back and fourth.
Overall this feels like a major, major change in the direction of the game. I like the idea of having to use tables and not backpacks. But everyone love their backpack, myself included.
I donât like this. I feel the nerf is WAY to big. I donât like this at ALL, the more I think about it. Inventory management is such a difficult mechanics to get right without it being a massive anti-fun headache.
For example, I carry around a synth to play music when Iâm bored. Itâs a normal size item so it a bit of a trade off to have it with me at all times, but now it would be crippling to carry it around.
Like I really donât feel the way to solve power-gaming items is to, instead of dealing with each item individually, for example, in the case of medical analyzers, to reduce the inventory space all players have. I really donât like this, I think I mentioned.
Another example is stripping prisoners in case of large amount of contraband or when working in medical where I try my best to not misplace patient items. For both of these situations I rely on their inventory and my own. But even now item get lost ALL the time when working medical and it get chaotic. Same with security when it gets chaotic and the ground turns into a Rimworld storage space. I canât even begin to imagine the piles and piles of stuff that will happen if this stay.
Forgetting an item and then having to walk back to get it because it canât fit into your space is such a headaches I just donât that to suddenly increase.
I feel there is already a very clear trade-off between item capacity and quick item accessibility in case of boxes. Maybe reduce box capacity A LITTLE, or add a small timer like a second or such to open the box if itâs inside an inventory. Just not this please I beg you.
Does this mean increase or decrease it? Because IMO increasing it isnât necessary. Sec belt holds all of your basic needs, you can stuff things in your armor, boots, and pockets too.
If you are using ballistic lethals, swapping to a bandolier or emptying out your sec belt to fit ammo in it is a good trade off for the power they give you and creates a niche for energy weapons where there wasnât before. The way bags are, you can still have some non-lethal capacity with a baton in your bag.
stop it you heretic, stop it!
Sheet snacher, construction bag. Just get a couple cloth
Neither yet, but was leaning on potentially increasing.
This is why the line says âlook into itâ
Personnally, I hate that my bag is full with one baton, two bolas, two donuts and one box (and the box canât carry donuts as it used toâŚ).
Maybe I was gamey, but as is it feels extremely punishing.
