Inventory adjustments 2.0

Exactly my point, there is a tradeoff for more capability.

Except it’s not a net loss, you can keep lethal and non-lethal capability in the ways I already described. I want people to have to think harder about whether or not they truly need lethals for the situation they find themselves in. The end goal is to reduce the amount of people shot with lethals, which is a goal you agree with based on your claim later on.

In my opinion, the escalation of gear should start with disablers of course. Followed by riot shotguns and e-guns as they can be used both lethally and non lethally. If this is the only level of escalation needed to deal with a threat, excellent. If not, proceed to sole lethal weaponry.

Losing a grand total of two lethal shots by using an E-gun and negligible bandolier or belt space for beanbag/rubber rounds isn’t going to render you completely impotent to deal with hostiles.

IF is doing some heavy lifting in that sentence. There are a lot of caveats to lethal force, you can’t shoot someone breaking a window dead just because some other guy broke into the vault ten minutes ago.

You are putting words in my mouth, I never said people should only carry lethals. What I am opposed to is people being able to carry two separate dedicated lethal and non lethal weapons when there are

See what, carrying a disabler in your backpack? It happens all the time. Dual wielding? It doesn’t happen that frequently but I suspect that these changes will see an increase in it for reasons I have already stated. And the infrequency of abuse doesn’t mean it isn’t worth preventing.

Note that I haven’t said anything about keeping a disabler in your backpack. Maybe, just maybe, because this PR makes disablers large, meaning it takes up most of your bag space, meaning there is a tradeoff for that capability.

It shouldn’t have been possible. The only roundstart guns that fit in bags are PTSD’s, X-01, detective revolver, and antique laser. Sawn offs have to be made, tech disk weapons have to be made. Any gun you can store in your bag are extremely strong due to their portability. This is multiplied for guns you can have multiple of. This is again multiplied when said gun is extremely strong, like a disabler or shotgun.

So set it on a table nearby. Plenty of those across medbay aren’t there?

Pffffffff! Good joke. 99% of assistants that exists are video gamers.

Why shouldn’t the toolbox be around the hip?

In this case it’s "why should the toolbox be in a backpack’

You got two hands and having both hands available makes work a lot easier. When I make servers as an RD, I try to get a toolbelt but if I can’t I use a toolbox and drag it behind me only so I will keep my other hand free. It is convenient.

Your going to attach this (made of metal) to your hip?

I was referring to a toolbelt around your hip. lol

If I put a toolbox in a table I have to walk there every single time I need a tool :/, the location of the table doesnt have to be next to the place I have to build new stuff

It’s really not a big deal! I always go for the tool box for two reasons:

  • If your co-worker has a full tool belt you will have to ask them to borrow a tool every time or get your own. With a tool box you can share the tools and its obvious that your co-worker already got tools.
  • Now that your belt slot is free you have access to much more general, or job specific storage. lots of jobs have their own department belt and trying to juggle both a tool belt and a department belt must be hell.

lol no, you just never bother to interact with assistants, i can tell you that a lot of them would come help if only you just asked
But 90% of the station doesn’t do that, so

never thought I would see you defend the inventory adjustments

I’ve sent out bounties, I’ve PDAd assistants directly, I’ve sent out announcements over the Head of Staff console. Don’t think I’ve gotten a single response back. The ones who has responded has been people I’ve seen play other roles previously and who somewhat knows who I am. Which is kind of boring and metay(?). Assistants don’t assist.

And also, assistants should assist, but it is also the newbie characters who themselves require a lot of assistance.

Also, a lot of the problems with having a small bag is… a lot of people in this game are kleptomaniacs. In robotics I tend to leave a Bluespace RPED in the middle for random parts like cells, proxies and such for makin’ mechs, cyborgs and bots. But the amount of times people has taken it and run off to never be seen again is frustrating high. At this point I just keep it in my inventory as it is a lot harder to steal it from there. Maybe this would be solved by the backpack change as now they wouldn’t be able to keep it in their backpack, but I somehow doubt it and expect them to drop it off wherever they are.

What’s the point of making a sawnoff now.

Welp, no more storing the steal objective in a storage implant I guess. Unless you have a bluespace closet.
…speaking of, bluespace closets are small right?

Bags of holding need to be made standard research rather than explo disk limited with this change.

bluespace capsules are tiny and can store up to large objects (no bulky)

Aren’t they meant to be closets?
“Oh you can’t fit that toolbelt in a locker” - statements thought up by the utterly unhinged.
