Which 9/10 is the majority opinion, since they’ll illicit the biggest reaction
I don’t know, You gatta be careful about any vocal minority taking influence.
Being a vocal nya supporter, I’m gonna say that Nya as it is right now (allowed, but not in excess), is completely fine. Based, however, everytime I see it, it’s always some dumb shit. It can’t be added to the filter though since based is an actual word.
Examples :
shitseccie - Time to throw suposed tot in the permabrig.
seccie - based on what evidence?
maintlurker - hey yo errybody, turns out the cult is based in med maint.
Suspicious person - I will not stand these debased accusations.
Though yeah the term is used fairly often as slang for “cool” or “neat”.
Frankly I Learned of the term’s usage as such slang because of SS13, so taking it out seems almost like taking a stab at the game’s established culture to me, don’t know if that’s a shared sentiment tho.
Based has long existed outside of ss13 as just general internet culture
Let’s filter all words unrelated to your job.
You must be an office worker drone with no individuality.
As llol said, if you act LRP I’ll just smite you off the station myself.
Not every word has to be filtered because it can be used in an LRP way.
If we went along with this, we might as well remove say in general.
If saying “based” or “cringe” is how you define individuality you’re playing the game wrong, no offense
Either go all in with filtered words or don’t filter at all
Let me say sus goddammit
Filter all speech. Force players to all emote like mimes to communicate.
How is that not a random event? Like some kind of space anomaly where the station is bombarded by french gamma rays at the vocal spectrum or some shite and noone can hear other people talk for five minutes?
I mean aside from the fact that people would definetly rush to murder people when the event happened.
I’d like to point out I find this genius.
Inspite of it’s meme status and the fact that it is slang, given there ARE traitor roles in this game “sus” could thus be used properly as short hand for “suspicious”.
the only reason the term is over used and a meme today is because 7 year olds watched a youtube video on a game i don’t even want to mention, because it’s redundant and can’t get it out of their damn 1 to 2 track minds.
Isn’t it peculiar how the ENTIRE INTERNET shit it’s pants over that fucking game, when ss13 has had changeling, almost the same damn thing but more complex, for years, and the main influx of the populace was from “haha i’m gonna make her a papa john” ass video??
It’s got alot to do with the simplicity and accessibility and next to brain dead gameplay loop of the game that I shan’t name.
It’s free on mobile, kids these days can’t get their faces OUT of their phones much like some of us can’t get our eyes off our computers.
In contrast, despite the charming 32 pixel art, our beloved gaem about 2d spessmanz is lacking in animation compared to the game produced by a development group that gets its prior reputation off of a literal, hilariously animated chose your own adventure series
So the visual appeal is there.
Additionally the reactions of twitch streamers/youtubers after either a; pulling off dat murder and deciving everyone portentially into even more murder, or b; blowing a gasket after getting le die. Really sells it for the kiddies.
Lastly the people who play this game, came here to be challenged by the trifecta of paranoia and potential deception of tots, the more obvious dangers and challenges of living on a orbital tin can in supernatural space, topped off by the funny little thing called IC roleplay that we try our damnedest to get out of this game, even though the process can be like making maple syrup some times. At their worst, aforementioned people are more mature than a 7 year old and can potentially engage in and appreciate one of those aspects at a time.
I have yet to see a good argument for those words not being filtered.
If we’re already filtering stuff like “Morbius”, we should at least be consistent.
99% of critique is always “”“FiLtEr EvErYtHiNg xDDDDD” or “XDDDD REMOVE chat ahahaah!!!”.
A good argument for “nya”?
while the stats garnered are limited by the fact that only the forum users were the ones voting.
the nya poll, does provide a good starting point for any conclusions regarding the filtering of the term, especially given that the people who often advocate for the filtering of “nya” on the forums, are also likely persons who fall into the limited stats of the poll.
Additionally I should mention, again within it’s limited scope and stats it does suggest that Nya is not overly detrimental to the majority of RP to players.
A good argument for “based”?, There isn’t really one, to which I say Go on test merge it, see if the game turns out any different to the point where we need to filter out the term based, Let us see if if maggot is once again posting bluster.
How is that what you read from those polls?
If you remove the people that have no oppinion on the matter/abstained, 59% of voters self-classified as “anti-nya”, and 63% said they find it cringey (how is that higher than the the other number lol)
An abstain should functionally count as neutral, and thus, not minding nya but not particularly wanting it either.
though yes ofc the poll dont represent anything worthwhile
if we wanted actualy comunity oppinion we’d do an in game poll and put up the firewall a few days
No, abstain means you have no oppinion. Ie, you wouldnt mind it being removed but you dont care if it says either.
