What do you consider powergaming?

i’m not asking u to give up i’m asking u to reconsider. u have influence as an admin and to an extent u get to pick and choose what gets punished and what that punishment is. i’m making the argument that decreasing player self-defense in a chaotic environment is not going to lead to better role play. i really don’t think higher role play=less chaos so it’s concerning to me that this is the decided direction to improve role play. i mean, i obviously don’t know the exact answer, but i don’t nerfing certain objects to decrease ‘powergaming,’ or adjusting the rules so they’re stricter on people who do this kind of greytider stuff on the regular, is going to yield the intended result.

You’re overlooking the fact that these rules are in place to make the server less chaotic to begin with.

Players tiding where they don’t belong as non-antags, stealing things they don’t need yet and then fighting with sec or players present in those departments like they’re being wronged is harmful to a roleplaying environment. It’s also harmful to the players who aren’t powergaming who later go for those items when they actually need them only to find they’ve been taken.

Players feeling like they have to win and are making decisions for OOC reasons instead of playing things out IC is harmful for a roleplaying environment.

Stop connecting to Sage just because it has more players. We have a server that requires no RP or IC decision making already. A server where there is no powergaming rule. Stop trying to act like Sage should be what Golden already is and go play on Golden. I don’t understand what is so hard about this concept to understand - if all of the players that have issues with the Sage rule set left at the same time, Golden would would have its throne back.

Powergaming is and should always be against the rules on Sage. This thread was made to debate whether specific things were or weren’t Powergaming, not to debate whether the rule belonged at all.

ok good luck with that

Stop asking the forums retard. There is nothing useful here. Forums is lrptards who want to get away with power gaming on lrp. Talk to admin chat and enforce the rules mrp needs to remain mrp. Send anyone who disagrees to lrp.

Leave the forums like you did the discord unfunny retard

Powergaming is defined as what I have that immediatelly wins in a fight because the defender is too retarded to know how to click someone :sunglasses:

Shark-sie you bumbling fucking retard. The forums are for every Beestation player. LRP is also represented and accounted for. Why you gotta be putting lrpchads down like that just because we re more robust and regulary fuck you in the ass bro :flushed:

Cakehat - agreed it’s too powerful right now for a fashion item.

Sunglasses - Meta station maint spawns are the worst offenders but yeah most static spawns should be replaced with a non-flashproof version. The people who downvoted my earlier PR to nerf flashes/confusion are the same people who rush those few spawns. Some people won’t admit the current meta is stupid because they’re one of the few who get them. Hell I know all the spawns as well and even I agree the current balance is retarded. Maybe they need to all be changed in the same PR.

Tools - public autolathe was a dumb PR that made any chance of this discussion void. I personally think only engineers should have access to a multitool, other stuff should be bought at the YouTool.

Soap and banana peels - yeah no reason for non-jani/clown to have em.

Combat mechs - there was a council vote recently on this, it’s still tied between needing permission from cap/HOS or just your head of department.

HOP with AA - yeah this shouldn’t happen unless they’re acting captain.

remember that round last night where the carp suit guy that killed all of sec and a captain was killed by a single guy with a cakehat

having tools and sunglassses as any role is not powergaming. change my mind.
also yes, cakehat is strong. instead of nerfing it replace it in vault or in any secure place.

Stay  mad . Lrp has no power gaming rule. So LRP should not have a say in this matter. And yet here we are

Ok boomer

okay kikе

Im pretty sure LRP of all places will know EXACTLY what powergaming is.

Except its normal behavior for them. They can’t spot it, hence everyone saying tools and sunglasses is not powergaming. They give a distinct advantage over other players, EVEN if they’re accessible that doesn’t make them not power gaming. Taking a classic emp from maint and using it to settle a domestic dispute is equally so, BUT MUH GRENADE WAS ACCESSIBLE

Yes, its not powergaming you fucking tard.

Powergaming is wearing CE hardsuit all shift or being a retard like me and having soap and cuffs in my bag at all times.

HOW IS HAVING A TOOLBELT AND SOME SHADES POWERGAMING

I mean when I would play crewmember I would usually get tools so I could make a base, when it comes to tools I don’t think tools are power gaming more what you do with them, if you get tools and immediately go to the closest doors and try to learn the wire layout, or get it and start disassembling walls to get into places just because you can now or to just break the station, that’s extremely power gamey, but just getting tools because you have a project idea or want to try to help in a department (rather than forcing your way into it) it should be fine.

Narin is a perfect example of what my argument was.

People saying they are just gotten early to not die is proving Aeder and Ruko’s side is also valid.

We’ll have to discuss it more and get an agreement between admins.

shoes are powergaming because they protect you from glass shards
therefore all players who are wearing shoes, when there are no confirmed antags are powergaming and should get banned

how i see this thread

chef does not need full tools and glasses.
Also, having flash and full tools allows anyone to go anywhere and do anything

My 2 cents are that full tools is while 1 or 2 tools isn’t, and the intent is what should be looked at for the glasses.

Assistants with tools hould be looked at with intent as well. If the player self-antags then a powergaming charge should be added on as well, but assistants shouldn’t necessarily be punished simply for the sole act of having tools.
