Walking around the station with those items as self-defense mechanics without an active threat is actually powergamming on MRP though. That is why this is even an arguement. On LRP you are fine to kit up as if you were going to be in a life or death battle. MRP you are not without IC information telling you that.
Your argument should not be that they are needed to not die. That is literally admitting you are just taking them for powergaming.
U would have to clarify what IC information would be needed. To me it just sounds like ur saying no power gaming on greenshift MRP
Immediate threat to your own person, or the station has obviously deteriorated to chaos. If it is blue shift, that does not tell you what threat there is. It is not your job to actively go out of your way seeking it. If you hear there are lings, why do you feel the need to get glasses? Sunglasses and toolbelt gotten for the sake of their self-defense mechanics against an unknown situation in the future is bad
Ok but it’s the game. The game is literally “survive.” I will get sunglasses every single round lrp mrp or hrp because there is LITERALLY death waiting around every corner. what is the point of pacifying a game that thrives on violence. it does not make sense to me. i do not think this will make roleplay better. I don’t.
Then you do not understand the difference between LRP and MRP. Just play on Golden if this is how you feel. You are actively disregarding the intent and rules for the server.
As a non-security & non-command crewmember, you’re not an experienced soldier. Do not rush into danger without reason.
Do not collect dangerous items, weapons, or tools “just in case”. Do not wear a hardsuit, riot suit, or similar bulky/uncomfortable armor for the entire round.
You are saying you rushing sunglasses every round is “just in case”, not because you want to weld as an assistant or look cool.
I just think ur straight up wrong. I’ll play where i want to
The way Beestation handled wallslams is really bloody stupid. The code basically forces you to get sunglasses or eye protection unless you want to get killed by assistant mctide or a traitor. Thus by being needed in combat it automatically makes them ‘powergame’ items that give you an edge. Just remove flash wallslaming is already fucking stupid to begin with.
Yoooooo admins think people wear sunglasses IRL to not be murdered yooooooo
LRP is just survive. MRP is do your job and role play situations that would happen while doing that job. If you ignore that and play MRP like it is LRP then you will have only one option left on where to play when it comes to bee.
I’m defending the right for people to wear them to be cool or weld. People in this thread are making the argument that sunglasses are worn to not be murdered. Very literally. You should not play MRP without threats or reasons with the motivation that I want to survive a fight later on. I don’t know how else to get that across.
Your argument should not be that they are needed to not die. That is literally admitting you are just taking them for powergaming.
Literally this. Get off of Sage if you feel a compulsive need to gather protective equipment because you’re afraid of losing a fight that you don’t even have reason to believe will occur IC.
Yoooooo admins think people wear sunglasses IRL to not be murdered yooooooo
Yoooooo literally not even close to what I’m saying. I’m saying publicly available sunglasses should be cosmetic and not give you protection from antags/sec because it just makes them a target to powergame with while claiming you just want to look cool.
Or are you saying you expect sunglasses will protect you from a flashbang IRL?
Yoooo literally just kill whoever made confusion this way and remove it and flashes won’t be a WMD lol
Confusion is pretty much just a stun with a little bit of brute damage added on.
This comment a thousand times, because flashes are so powerful is that sunglasses are rushed.
Also this
I’m pretty tilted I even need to explain why powergaming is bad for an RP environment - Golden is the “try to survive” server - Sage is not.
Sage is for playing out your job and interacting with others. Antags on Sage should have an easier time because of the nature of the server. It’s not supposed to be handing them victory, but an appropriately stealthy antag shouldn’t have to work around shit players have no reason to possess. This is why the hardsuit rule is in place too.
Noisy and sloppy antags that alert the station of their shenanigans are a different story, but trying to be ready like you’re definitely going to be a target every round is the definition of powergaming.
the fact that u and Kasual are trying to convince ppl that being self-defensive in a game with the structure and environment of space station 13 is powergaming and therefore against the rules, is goofy as fuck
Yoooo he literally just put that there smh

an admin wouldn’t have started this thread if all the admins agreed on what power gaming is. Which is what we’re talking about!
Were talking about if it is okay to have tools and sunglasses without having an active task as an assistant. Having those things means 80% percent of the time they intend to tide, they think it should be ruled as powergaming. I don’t think it needs to be unless they are actively tiding because it fall under their job. They don’t think an assistant has assigned tasks until they decide what they are doing or are asked to help.
You guys coming out of nowhere saying they should have it to survive and win fights at round start proves that their reasoning based on greytiders and shitters powergamming only is probably true.
We have been debating this for a full 24 hours cycle now, I am very aware of what the threads intention is. It was to get a public frame of mind from you guys, but you guys have proven that they are probably right since y’all just wanna tide and win fights instead of role play.
