Tim Evans player report

Explorers are allowed to keep items they find when exploring such as that energy shotgun not an illegal weapon and the HOS only mindsheilded me after asking captain as the shotgun has a minsheild firing pin.

HOS didn’t give me sec headset I got the encryption key from the same place as the energy shotgun alongside some sechuds which were confiscated nobody thought to check my headset for encryption keys.

Its funny you accuse me of not reading your posts when my posts tell you who it is and you apparently don’t know their name:

Sounds like you don’t know what role play is if a police officer shoots someone to the ground with a handgun and tries to tell the judge “I only meant to put them in crit” that’s going to last about 0.5 seconds in a court before they are laughed out and that’s the argument you are using here.

You only escaped because I told you to leave me alone and threw you away. If I had wanted you dead I had an emaged exploration pistol or could have just removed your space suit.

Nobody ended up dead because I never used my lethals because I never wanted to kill anyone.

Why not, its a simple question.

Did you or did you not ask cap for his gear?

I don’t think I asked for or denied mindshield implantation on you, that would have been the HoS’s decision only.

So the energy shotgun is sort of a grey area since under space law inherently dangerous weapons can be considered contraband, but it’s ultimately determined by the nature of the weapon and the person’s occupation. Since explorers do have to occaisonally go after dangerous individuals an energy shotgun does have relevancy to their job (unfortunately). That being said, security can lethal you under the instance they need to detain you while you’re even so much as carrying the weapon, let alone firing it at them. While disabling is still preferable, don’t expect it from sec when you have a such a dangerous stun weapon.

I handed them the jetpack with the intention of them detaining Nathan, so effectively the former. This was long before I made my suggestion of guarding the escape shuttle, and the HOS more or less ordering it based on my suggestion.

This is ultimately a game set in the future where people can be revived quite easily after death, or even cloned, let alone just getting healed out of a critical state. Certainly a consequence of the rather shallow medical system we have but it is something to consider nonetheless.

I’d also like to add that the defense “I only meant to defend myself” doesn’t really apply to debraining a limp, harmless corpse. This was ultimately why you were charged with prime murder even in spite of admitting to it, and the whole aspect of defending yourself.

Tim and I asked you to surrender over sec comms, I even proposed negotiating but you were dead set on evading security more than anything.

Ultimately an assumption since no one can discerne your true intentions in that moment, but it’s reasonable to assume the armed criminal who had already committed prime murder once won’t hesitate to do it again.

This is the only thing I find a bit iffy from Tim personally, you could argue on the side of blowing up a pod to apprehend a dangerous criminal with the “clear and present danger” modifier in space law, but the HoS’s orders to retreat and the personal risk involved make this a bit of a grey area to me. At the very least I remember Tim confirming that Nathan was the only one aboard the pod before attempting to blast it open, it would be unacceptable if there were other occupants.

Since two people now claim HoS ordered me to retreat, and I didn’t personally see it, I’m assuming HoS didn’t have the headset set to “large letters” and I missed it.

Yeah Spindel doesn’t use loud mode, can’t really be blamed for missing the small print.

Stuff like that happens. I ain’t gonna lie. When i am too busy doing things like botany, or virology, i get too absorbed in the production of something, i forget to check the comms speak.

Might be getting off topic here, but I do think heads should have loud mode on by default.

I actually sympathise with Kontaminant if this is the case

Spindel not having their headset on loud is so annoying.

from the screenshots shown, the captain and HoS both said in sec coms to fall back, no they did not specifically in person tell you buy your first name and rank that YOU specifically have to also fall back. But that seems like missing the point on purpose. Like the idea you simply “didn’t notice” more

Sec should not take beating some one into crit lightly still

This is not some petty “whoopsie” crime either you broke into the most value persons room to steal a decently rare item. this is still larceny and murder(only if a very strong case could be made about them being an traitor)

it is rather odd that the HoS would agree to give a fire arm to a practicly confirmed syndicate operative aswel as mindshields. No idea why he would do that.

I dont believe the sec officer in question broke the laws too severely to warent action. a few of his comments do have me worried, especially

Please don’t play sec like this. its not fun.

@Kontaminant In the future do not go so far as to lose your change to evacuate in order to kill a traitor. your job is not to fight the syndicate its to protect the crew(granted from the syndicate).

Ill leave this mostly as is other then a note, I feel either party had some iffy situations(being given a shotgun and basically resigning to a known syndicate agent for one and going out of your way to slay the valid on the other).

Are you saying I was wrong in using lethal force in space combat? Can you edit the space law lethal force page to reflect your ruling?

no I think that was justified, welder bombing the escape pod even though after HoS gave orders to evac IS wrong

How can I see the HoS giving a vague order that doesn’t even mention my name in middle of combat, when they don’t even use their command large letters?

The captain ALSo gave this order in loud mode, and again

What do you mean by this, both me and the criminal were evacuated. Nobody was killed, in fact I went out of my way to make sure they were healed on shuttle.

Captain didn’t give me an order to retreat, please post logs saying otherwise.

Can you be more specific here? Which laws did I break, as you’re clearly stating some were broken so you must know which. I honestly do not know which you mean.

After reading your comments again, I have the impression you didn’t actually log dive at all and just made assumptions.

I know you revived them but you could not have known the beacon would be on the shuttle. That was total luck on youre part

Triggering a welder bomb is not something you should be doing either, and the HoS did specify to fall back. “broke law” may be wrong wordering but it still was not that great. Like I said

I dont think you did anything bad to warent action but just take this for future encounters

I didn’t revive them, THEY DIDN’T DIE. They were in soft crit from burn damage. The shuttle was a custom shuttle ordered by captain, it was being built entire round, it’s a near certainty there is a beacon.

Welder bombs barely break a single wall if the random numbers align, much less damage someone 6 tiles away through multiple walls. There was no danger to anyone blowing the welder tank which you’d know had you log dived.

I already repeated this before, and others had too, it’s ridiculously easy to miss chat lines when you’re doing other things especially when they are so small and chat is moving fast. I’m not omniscient and when others make the absolute bare minimum effort and don’t even say who they are talking to, how am I supposed to obey such orders? Should I be ahelping every time some officers misses something on sec channel?

I mean what I said in my first comment. I would repeat this scenario again as I followed all space law and SOP guidelines, asking permissions, combat escalation from non lethal to lethal, apprehension and evactuation. If you’re going to note me for following the rules as administration wrote them, then there’s something fundamentally wrong with administration.

I do implore you to actually go through the logs.

I have seen them quiet ofton break atleast the floor tile which can cause atmos to become lethal.

This wont help you

So you are free to ignore orders because they came from coms?

I only applied a note, a note that was mainly about that worrying comment. Its not that big a deal

This is my descision as it stands and I wont change it, if you feel I serverly wronged you make an admin report.
