I’'ve not taught enough people to have anyone in that regard testify about my greatness and undoubtedly amazing teaching skills… BUT If this is more about a character witness then, I’d be willing to put it out to the open! I think Raspberry, or I has done their best to create a open and welcoming attitude on station and tried to make as many friends with all the nice people as possible! aka. I don’t want to go fishing for compliments between people who I know would be nice enough to give them, and am… arrogant(?), enough to say I think most people who met raspberry even if they think he’s a bit of a silly goof, at least has a can do attitude? ദ്ദി・ᴗ・)✧

Game Experience (More Detailed): WELL WELL WELL! TIME FOR THE OL QUESTION OF GRAND IMPORTANCE IS IT? Lets get into it then!

SO! As we can, hopefully see I LOVE The flowers and the service department! Its truly wonderful and filled with great people. and is about the only department I think I can run with some degree of success! And while places like, Chemistry, Genealogy and Command* as well as Sec are something I know enough about, and feel confident in. There are absolutely details about those jobs that I have yet to master, I mean this game is so deep that I don’t know how long it would even take TO.
But! As Regards for departments like Science, or Engineering, as well as Medical Surgery I’ve got none. or at least next to, experience in and would maybe be off little help, beyond being able to use the resources available to try and help, but at that point they’re probably looking at the same form! OH! and antag!! I, while feel like know how it works (Barring Cult) have very little experience with that, having only rolled it once on a two pop in my first week, then over the course of my time here managing to play, one swarmer, one nukie, two cult games, but in the latter of them overwhelmed would be the term id use. I’ve had a lot more experience against antag’s given the time iemphasized textve played command, acting captain on low sec, and sec itself.
All in all, I know that there is a lot of room for growth still personally, and I’d be more then glad to continue to explore it, delve into this game and uncover and fall in love with more of its mechanics, and engage it the amazing RP with the community. But, I also want to be able to help the people I can, also get past the frustration, and how overwhelming this game can be. Those players deserve to be able to enjoy this game same as so many of us do, and if i can help them do so, then id like to. Not only to help the server get more people on it, more characters to meet and interact but because its fun! In what opportunities I’ve been given to act as a mentor it is fun. And at the end of the day, we all are here to just have fun and that’s what im applying to help with •ᴗ•

i like you a lot as a player but i am a little dubious considering you’ve only got 50 days under you (though 400 hours in 50 days is insane). I’ll ask the obligatory questions for you to prove me wrong anyway

1. “This surgical console has brainwashing installed. Does this mean a traitor has used it?”

hehehe 8 hours a day apparently… AHEM Anyways, the questions are more then okie! I know my inexperience here is not an asset, and even if I don’t go through with becoming a mentor here, now then that’s a-okay! Like i said there’s still so much I don’t know BUT, lets give this here a shot

1. Surgery is scary, and technology all the moreso! It never hurts to be cautious, BUT in this case, science could just be doing their job! As far as I know they are able to research different types of surgery, or additions to it! And Brainwashing, as far as I thinks is one of the latter things they can research! that said… I do believe antags are able to access this technology without needing that to be researched! So maybe swing on by science and ask them how the medical research is going and keep an eye on who’s touching the machine if you have suspicions!
2. Well… why? Does it help to engage in the RP between the two of you and does the RP up to now warrant such a thing? Assuming it does then the next thing to consider is, assault IS illegal, you’re more then free, to (without being a mean player, but doing it for the situation at hand) but you better be ready for IC consequences for such a thing, such as being arrested, or whatever else security, command deems fit. Assaulting someone without RP isn’t fun, so ensure that this fight, if it does happen is enjoyable for everyone involved (that doesn’t mean giving them the win but it DOES mean don’t just walk up to them and start smacking to get the edge) and going to far, WILL be an issue OOC. Espeically without antag, going so far as to kill or killing then making an attempt to hide the body is NOT okay, regardless of the RP.
3. OH NO! Those blasted sneaky fish 𓆝 how dare they hide! We cant be having that! Theres alteast two options! You can attempt to hack a chem dispenser, which among some other things will dispense the carp juice! *but be careful as there may be IC consequences for such a thing from Security or the CMO! But if that doesnt suit the ol fancy, and you crave the violence of killing… THEN, there is a chemical called Life that can and really, emphasis on the CAN spawn hostile mobs. Be careful as there are ALOT of things that can go wrong here, such as not being able to handle the spawns, Too many of them and can easily result in self antagging if you throw a whole beaker in and spawn a ton of hostile creatures! That said, be careful, right dosage and let security know, and do ALL you can to ensure its done safely then that is an option!
4. Me too! BUT im sure we can figure this out together! As someone who very often gets lost the keys are to ensure that you have a radio, and something to wear! Set your suit sensors to maximum, (by a doin the right click on your uniform you should see the option) and start calling for help on radio! let people know your lost and someone will come track you down! If you dont have a suit sensor then try to be descriptive! And if not a radio, then try to find a station intercom on the walls, they act as a station wide radio!

I’m not Taylor, but I can answer his answers and give some questions of my own.

1. This is good. This is a very good answer. This is probably better than what I’d do.
2. Part of mentor conduct is that we’re not allowed to answer rules questions. This was kinda mean by Taylor, but you’ve got to read conduct. We have a button in game to elevate questions to ahelps if we need to, and this is a very good application of that.
3. As far as I was aware, you can’t hack a chemdispenser to dispense carpotoxin, only emag it. The difference is slim, but it’s important to be aware of, since emagging isn’t available to non-traitors. Life is a deep cut, and a good catch, but given that you’re seemingly quite experienced in botany I’m surprised you missed Koibeans.
4. This is good too. There are other ways to approach this question, but you included a lot of important information quickly. I especially like the point about the intercom.

These answers, as a whole, are passable. They would answer the questions being asked, and the embellishments aren’t necessarily a bad thing.

As a further analysis, you have at least some time logged in every job but atmos tech and brig physician. This is a big point in your favor, since at least brig physician is experience-equivalent with medical. Granted, you don’t have enough hours in engineering for me to trust your atmospherics knowledge.

You have two positive notes that would have served you well here.

The thing that caught my attention was the very wordy answers and the fact you answered a rules question. Remember that mentors are staff and are held to a higher standard, and that standard includes reading and knowing the mentor policy. Something you wouldnt know but would have helped is that there is an ‘escalate to ahelp’ button on mentorhelps for anyone asking rules questions.

As for questions:

1. I cant scan this bag with my forensic scanner
2. How do I clear logs in my detective scanner
3. Can I health scan someone as detective

I’m a big fan of your interactions in-game and you’ve already helped out a few new players, however I feel like you’re still a bit low on experience for mentor stuff, however I’m happy to drop some questions for you!

1 - How do you open/unlock a safe, the kind thats in the vault

2 - Heretic cant seem to ascend even after reaching their knowlege requirement, what could be stopping them?

3 - I want to upgrade a security camera, what can I do to upgrade it and make it emp proof or add a motion alarm to it?

4 - I dragged into a test chamber as a “dead” (reviving) but changeling, and now I cant seem to revive, any idea whats going on?

5 - Some event happened and now my items have a +2 (or similar) quality on their name, whats happened, and does it give my item(s) more power or something?

In response to your response my response would be, thank you. You along with what the others have mentioned in regards to this was help very helpful and I have since been used the chance to make sure to read the Mentor Guidelines, as well as Admin before going on to answer any further, which was really nice of you all to bring up! and GAH i thought emag was hacking but that’s my mistake. "( – ⌓ – )=3 the koibeans is an embarrassing one… And again thank you, but what would be some other ways to approach this as i do myself end up locked and lost all too often.

My engineering experience is my biggest concern in this application, as emphasized by your first question. I had taken a shift with the intent of learning it and will be doing so again here shortly as I had gotten occupied in round. And I don’t feel comfortable answering it, as I think of SM as a dangerous thing, and my knowledge on it isn’t enough at present. So if this was a mhelp that showed up, it would be best given to someone else, another mentor or admins as at the time of writing this its the best thing for the one wanting help.
2. Strange Seeds! Well, those generally come from strange places, like lavaland generally! If you want to ask the miners who often head down there, or try to get permission to explore yourself you can seek those out! But! They also come from exotic seed pack’s at cargo, or from a hacked seed vendor!
3. Dark times… Issue’s like that are best left to the engineer’s, its best left to those who are qualified! But in lack of engineer’s, or if they are one then rebuilding an APC is easy enough! First, you’d want to get some Iron and do some hand crafting, look up an APC Frame. Once built, ensure you have the proper tools (Some tools, wire, a battery, a Power Control Module) and and slam that thing into the wall! remove the floor tile and place some wire, ensure its connected to the station power wires, then screwdriver the apc, battery and close it up with with a crowbar! You may have issues if the broken APC isnt properly taken down first!

• In a case like this is this a right kind of response or should I be directing them towards the wiki where there is a section on APC’s. I feel like it could be a good addition at the end too in case they don’t have it, but would like some guidance here if possible <3

4. Brain Damage can caused by any number of things. But more importantly, saving them! They’re either going to need to visit the chemist and get some chemicals such as Mannitol or Neurine. Beyond that there may be surgery’s available!

• One thing that the question brings up for me is, would it be worth mentioning the different ways a character could get brain damage? I do know that there’s quite a few but feel that, this would be something that would be best left to IC, and finding out what happened to them. But im not sure if that’s the right idea or not so any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

• Engineer and Detective have been added to the list of Jobs to play tonight then it seems. I would do that before answering these questions but feel bad about that order even if it might be the wrong call.

1. Mind clarifying a little, if the issue is just that you keep putting the scanner in the bag then try using a different intent! Or were you experiencing another issue with it by chance?
2. ummmm this doesnt ring a bell despite having used the scanner. I will note this for my detective shift but at present I’d direct them towards the security console’s. I may have been using it wrong but I thought it just popped up a notification with the results in the same place you’d have chat. Either way I can acknowledge this isn’t really a satisfactory answer as it was haphazard and potentially usless anyways.

• is not correct! not only do you scan bags from a distance! but the clearning of them is done with an alt click! aiya me, come on! also im correcting not to change my answer but to scratch the mental itch of having put the wrong info here, I still did get it wrong and tis not good even if understandable but ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭

• for things like this should I give additional information like your PDA has a built in Medical Scanner, and Records or would I want to to try and keep it limited to just the scope of just what they asked, and if they wanted more they would ask for it?

4. If youre having trouble’s with what you can and can’t do as a Detective then make sure to check out the Standard Operating Procedures (Or SOP’s) for the job! That said, if there are officer’s on duty then they are the ones do the arrest, you just need to provide them with the information they need to do so. BUT If not, then yes! that responsibility does fall on you as law enforcement.

I too feel on the low end of experience and am hesitant in this application. That said, despite my notions against, It feel really nice to see new players on the server, but especially as a newer one I know how tough it can be doing things without knowing how, and want to be in a better position to help them out, and let them enjoy the game as I have had the opportunity to. And I could be wrong but i feel as though mentor would give me tools to do so, but even if now isn’t the time for me, Id still try when and where I can to help out so I don’t really worry to much about if I get rejected ദ്ദി (༎ຶ‿༎ຶ )

Which does feel emphasized with these questions as while I will go about answering them, for the ones im unsure of I don’t feel confident in learning. In regards to the SM question earlier that I didn’t answer, I at least know that after some engineering tonight I’d be in a position to answer that question, but don’t feel the same necessarily about these… that said, its only testimony to them being good questions! But without any further delay,

1. Well, first thing you’d need to do is find a stethoscope, the kind the doctors use! Then once you’re at the safe, time to get crackin and turning that dial! With the stethoscope, you should be able to hear a particular sound indicating its time to turn the other direction. Then once you’ve heard two sounds from spinning in the other direction the safe should be good to open!
2. Heretic’s… In addition to the requirement on having the knowledge, have to transmute three corpses. That could be holding you back in this, if that’s not being completed as well •ᴗ•

3. Most technology upgrades come from science and their researching! Once the technology has thoroughly studied you can, using the appropriate components upgrade most devices. So if you arent a scientist then you’re best off asking them for help with the upgrades as they’re paid to do them! But in lack of or if you are, then generally this involves using a RPED or a Bluespace version, a tool commonly used by Scientists, filled with components relative to the research tier, opening a machine with a screwdriver and using the RPED on the machine, then closing it with said screwdriver. It should be noted that a RPED isn’t needed as you can replace the components by hand but does get significantly easier with one.

• IS WRONG! Its opening up the camera with a screwdriver then putting some crystalized plasma in it! no upgrades required! silly me

4. what? i think im missing something here, or fundamentally lacking in knowledge of something because I don’t know what a test chamber is. I know that its not easy to kill a changling, beyond burning it, or putting it in the kitchen’s gibber which may have been what happened here, but test chamber? I feel like even if i say, my guess, which is that the chamber was ignited resulting in them permanently dying, the not knowing here makes me feel bad and would prevent me from taking the ticket because worst case its a bug and me telling them its fine would be not so good.

5. Lucky you! There are magical and mythical scrolls that can find their way around the station, capable of enchanting items! They are capable of enhancing the items power though generally the name is cooler then said power.

Anndddd that’s that! The questions we’re tough and I know that antag questions would be a big portion of what new players need help with, but my own experience in that regard is very limited and beyond having read and the ability to use the tools available to any player. I do want more antag experience but thats something that comes… with luck, time or beecoins. jokes aside, to help get a little more clarification if okie.That point makes me wonder, are SOP’s rules? I wasnt thinking of them as just OOC rules but more IC, and that not following SOP is clear cut cause for firing. While I very much can understand them being an OOC issue if not followed that wasnt my first thought, and the use in this context of mentors discussing them makes me wonder. Also, my initial thought on that question was to escalate it to an ahelp, or atleast check if they are online first hand, which seems to have been a bit closer, but regardless of that, are rules not ever something a Mentor should be discussing and should just be left to the admins to handle, or are there situations where a Mentor should?

I hope this isn’t too much a bother, and would appreciate a little clarification for future reference, but am still thankful for everything so far and the comments you’ve been giving

1. Yeah, pretty much that. Brainwashing can be researched through alien tech but is otherwise traitor disk item exclusive
2. Mean question, but you have to learn. Mentors shouldn’t answer rules questions, bump them up to an ahelp even if no admins are on. You wouldn’t’ve known so I can’t hold it against you, just have a read over the mentor rules
3. It’s an emag, not hack, so traitor exclusive if you want to do it that way. Was expecting a Koibean response from a botanist. You can technically order the meat from Cargo too, which would’ve been a valid response
4. Pretty good, maybe ask them to describe their location to you on the mhelp too. You get a lot of questions where people don’t know we can’t see them so it’s good to be prepared for them

Pretty decent answers if a bit verbose, but I am little concerned that you’ve been pumping hours into the game like a full time job. Burnout can happen after hours like that and I think it’d be good for your first burnout with the game to happen before you become a mentat. +0.5 for the answers, but i’d like to see a bit more time between first starting the game before Id give you a full recommendation.

2 - Yessir, if they’ve already done that then it could also be objective related afaik, as in, unfinished objectives

3 - Yerp, good idea at first heading for R&D, but most security cameras can be upgraded with plasma sheets and a prox sensor

4 - Test chamber as in like the xenobio testing chamber, or similar room that someone may have built.
For reference, certain gasses can inhibit changeling powers from working, if theres no visible cause its most likely a gas thing or a bug

All in all, I feel like you know a decent amount for your hours and you’ve previously shown your willingness to stop and help new players learn the ropes.
Most things can be found on the wiki or via code-diving, but dont hesitate to ask people and learn from them too, with time comes the knowlege of it all
