Ranking every limited rp antagonist

Anyways here is my list

Reasoning
S - Zombies

Honestly just great all around, I agree with Fraud they said. The RP comes in form of survival, being locked in your department with your coworkers as you desperately try to build defences is honestly so fun. Getting bitten and slowly getting converted is also top tier, not being able to trust your coworkers if they’re hurt really gives a lot of suspense to the round. If you manage to defeat the zombies you can easily restore things to how they were before the outbreak, since nobody has to leave their old body to get converted.

A - Blob

I like the Blob, both playing with and against. The teamwork that goes into fighting one is something else. I agree with what Fraud said basically, the only thing i don’t like about blob is that it is extremely hard to win if you don’t know the blob meta (which i don’t even fully know) and that it can delay a round up to 30 minutes in some cases, even after the shuttle is called.

B - Revenant

Honestly the Revenant is shit on too much, they’re honestly annoying at worst and some really one of a kind rp at best. Working together with them as an antag is just something real special and really gives you another playstyle, not to mention that they’ll probably will turn on you if you fail to kill someone. An easy counter to the Revenant is just to get the chaplain to bless a room and they can’t enter there anymore, problem solved. Also as a Revenant you gotta be careful not to reveal yourself in a too crowded room since you’re an easy target for a beatdown.

The worst a Revenant can do in my opinion is just break windows to space an area, which is just grief and should be ahelped.

B - Xenomorphs

Another conversion antag, as i stated before they’re much like zombies, but still different. They require teamwork to defeat and to fend off. I like them for the same reason i like the zombies, but i do agree that they are a bit worse to fight. The headgear needs to be revamped so more masks and helmets cover from the alien and that they shouldn’t be allowed to fully strip people. Though i still feel people complain too much about them getting killed off fast by xenos, being this because of protection issues, then i agree that its dumb, but a lot of people die because they do not care to listen to announcements that confirm xenos and walk into maints alone and unprotected.

B - Spiders

Basically just a Xenomorph with more legs, honestly they’re so similar they’re basically the same antag. As a spider you go out and hunt living things so you can lay your eggs in them to make more spiders. The only difference from Xenos is that you don’t have the same abilities and you lay webb instead of the xenoweed. I’d love to see them more, they’re so rare to fight that i kinda have forgotten about them. Oh yea, they inject you with venom which will kill you pretty fast if you can’t deal with it.

B/C - Space dragon

Fun to fight against, not that fun to RP with. A friendly dragon will turn hostile eventually, they will set up portals and break walls and someone is gonna get killed either trying to stop them or from a carp that just doesn’t listen to the dragon. Though a fight against the dragon is still really fun if you’re in a team and the space dragon only temporarily RR’s you since often they spit you up or they get killed. All and all, I agree basically want Fraud said.

C - Morph

The morph much similar to the reverent, but incredibly more annoying and straight up infuriating to play against. A friendly morph can be fun to RP with, but then they aren’t an antag anymore and you’ve just lost threat to a friendly which gets boring pretty fast after a couple of rounds. Morphs as they are supposed to be played is just worse, going around and eating stuff for the sake of it. Some morphs love to go straight for the armoury and/or ore silo and just ruin the whole round for everyone. Then they got the fun ability to turn into anything, which is great to be nearly invisible as a cigarette butt, but that’s not all if you morph into an item someone will probably pick up they are injected with morph toxin that instantly stuns them for a good amount of time, enough for the morph to kill them and eat them, basically RRing them until someone kills the morph.

D - Swarmer

They have no reason to exist and are basically impossible to defeat if you do not find the first swarmer as it spawns. They can completely destroy rooms with no rp reason, then go after the ore silo and eat all the station recourses. Just infuriating to play against and is such a dumb reason why the shuttle needs to be called. Remove them, they aren’t even fun to play against since the only thing you do is to destroy walls and eat department lathes.

E - Slaughter daemon

Thankfully extremely rare. Slaughter daemons are basically unkillable, they hit like a train and can go appear anywhere there is blood. They come out from nowhere, 3 hit you and then take you underground where you are RR’d. You need to keep it constantly clean for them not to appear, which is near impossible in medbay as injured people come in all the time and if he appears he is bound paint the whole room in blood before disappearing with someone and regaining all his health.

F - Nightmare

Ever wanted to be an asshole for no reason, but without much killing? Then the nightmare is the antag for you! Go around and destroy every fucking light and APC there is, make anyone who requires electricity to kill themselves since all the engineers are going around and fixing other APC’s you broke in maints and hallways. Attack a traitor who forgot to turn his PDA flashlight off and now his whole uplink is gone. Attack some normal guy who forgot to turn his flashlight off, take his id as it falls on the ground and he runs away without realising that he lost it. As someone who plays regularly in engineering i fucking hate nightmares, there is no point in spending 1-5 minutes fixing singular APC’s a nightmare destroys since they will just destroy it again in less than 5 seconds. If a nightmare comes to atmos i will fucking validhunt the fuck out of him, i do not care. A nightmare destroying an APC in atmos will shut down every pump and all alarms and it can take ages for an engineer to come fix that APC if I don’t have skeleton crew access. Also nightmares who try to RP are basically stuck to maints, were they are forced to destroy lights and make everything pitch dark. They’re also fucking stupidly hard to kill since they got that shadow walk ability which makes them not having to commit to fights.

I feel like Zombies are just more engaging both to fight and to have aboard. Zombies don’t ventcrawl, zoom at 5x human speed, aren’t (usually) invisible, have one hit 60+ second stun projectiles, and the stamina drain claws that xenos do. If you see a zombie and you are relatively prepared, you have options, you can get away, you can try and fight if you have a ranged weapon, or you can melee them and risk infection. Xenos you will almost always just get merced if you see one and be roundended after a long wait.

A xeno threat isn’t something an ordinary crew can deal with. Competant command and medical staff can keep an outbreak contained and quarantine the infected. This creates interesting roleplay scenarios that aren’t just “Everyone hide and/or evac the station unless you are a Gygax!”.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good paranoid hiding kind of roleplay, it’s just those sorts of opportunities just don’t seem to come up in xeno rounds. Things quickly spiral out of control and the round ends with 30-40% of the players ghosted and 40% of the players as xenos.

Agreeing with basically the entire tier listing, I would only swap xenos and revenant because I’ve actually had good rp with revenants as antags and zero with xenos.

The only way to combat xenos is to stick together and play the numbers game. One xeno cannot out-stun 2 crewmembers.
When I’m in command I try to organize team groups or barricade in one departament (Like brig) and hold out for last defense.

Has agree on everything here

I can say from experience that this is false.
in CQB ANY XENO CAN AND WILL STUNLOCK YOU AND YOUR #2.
try 3 or 4 players.

Regarding the neurotoxin weakness for Xenos. The fact that it has to be brought up kind of explains the whole reason of why Xenos aren’t good. There’s xenos? “Normal” crew has to mass produce gygaxes, bombs, flamethrowers and neurotoxin grenades to have a chance at doing anything before a near invisible zooming hunter stuns them, takes off their helmet, and drags them to the nest

And unlike zombies, where you can decide.to self-quarantine, seek help, or however your chatacter would act to being infected, Xenos just keep you buckled in their nest until you burst and there’s barely anything you can do.

wrong, make durands lol

I’ve meant as in if the 2 crew members have laser guns. Since from my experience it just hurts too much to try and stun both of them.

erm actually, if you want to go xeno hunting use the zoomy fast one. your opinion is wrong.

(this post was made by the gygax gang)

I feel like people are missing the most important part: STAY TOGETHER.
Of fucking course you’re gonna be a top target for xenos if you’re alone, it’s the worlds easiest kill.

Though if i were to nerf xenos, id remove their ability to fully strip people and make their nests slowly heal people they have buckled to there, makes it easier and somewhat plausible to escape.

They’re supposed to, the edge the crew has over xenos is that they are able to use guns and kill them from a range.

the fact that I mentioned “CQB” explicitly doesn’t denote that I am already aware of this?

My issue is personally what constatutes CQB for a xeno given their speed and the fact that they can tackle you for free.

It’s a tackle, you need to take at least 2 seconds to fully pin a sucker to the floor, gameplay ought to reflect that.

valid hunter smh

Update: Added abductors to list and template.

Hear me out, Phazon.

The Phazon is supposed to be better than those two. It is locked behind explo tech disks and requires an anomaly core to build, of course its better than the two “stock” fighting mechs

I will not stand for this Blob propaganda. Not once have I ever had a fun experience with blobs. Every blob round I’ve ever had has dragged any fun interaction I was having to a screeching halt so that the crew can morph into trained blob exterminating soldiers to get to the blob slaughter meta or else the round instantly ends in mass death, stopping any ongoing evacuations and trapping you in the most brain dead interaction-less “Fight this giant thing that cannot interact with anyone at all in any way that does not involve silent destruction” loop.

I do concur with the common opinion of Zombies being plain fun though

The thing with blob is that if you win, the round still keeps going, so its a fun detour before usual business unless some jackass called the shuttle (ie, didn’t have faith in the crew or was law 2’d).
