Ban Reason: used looc to insult roboticist calling them a piece of shit, has been told repeatedly not to use looc to insult. ban authorized by bottierpc

Appeal Reason: This appeal is purely in regards to the note included, and not an appeal to reduce/remove the ban itself. The note states “has been told repeatedly not to use looc to insult” which I can generously interpret as referencing the ahelp. The reality is that the note implies that I’ve done this numerous times in the past which isn’t true. This kind of misleading note can, and has, lead to repeat-bans and skewed expectations in ahelps. It can also imply refusal to comply to some extent, when in reality there was no extended incident to begin with, I called a player shit and walked away immediately, before bwoink even occured. This was one line of text.

Out of curiosity I’ve checked my ban history - last mention of LOOC is from 2021. (there was an earlier mention of toxicity, but it seemed to be an IC issue, and I can’t make this up, but the note implies that the other player was wrong, so make of that what you will.)

And…yeah, that’s it really. Just word the note better please, this isn’t something I do, to the point where I could not even remember the last time myself.

Yet another ban arising from the classic “get out” spam. This time I tried to make conversation from it. I didn’t lie in the conversation either. The only reason I was doing things in robotics was that I didn’t know we had a roboticist (and it was with AI’s help, too). The reason I didn’t know we had a roboticist was that their outfit made me think they were an engineer.

…but nah, such things clearly aren’t worth acknowledging, since all I got was “don’t do my job” twice in a row. After already giving up, mind you. I guess the urge to tell me to fuck off twice was too strong. At least I didn’t suicide in the player’s face this time.

Anyway, you don’t need my ranting, at this rate I’ll probably just stare at the person for two whole minutes next time before cryoing, maybe that will send a message without also eating a ban.

Now, to address the appeal directly.
edit: due to some cleanup this is now replying to ruko’s post, which comes after this in the thread.

A more accurate note or ban would read along the lines of ”has been told repeatedly not to vent OOC frustration at players for completely normal and expected IC behavior”

This is certainly more accurate, but still not objective or unbiased.

  1. Does not actually include the reason for the ban.

  2. Cites earlier incidents (ie, suicide) which specifically did not occur here. This makes for an actual tough wording situation since there are prior, relevant incidents, but they do not match what happened. Ie, it could be easy to mistakenly make it seem like I attack people in LOOC a lot.

  3. Notes “completely normal and expected IC behavior” for no reason other than negative emphasis.

I was an admin once, and though I lost that position later, it was not due to abusing power or not understanding rules. As someone who has given notes to people that tried to be as objective as possible, here is what I would write for this. (I hate that I have to actually do this, by the way)

Rule 6 - Be Excellent to Each Other - After IC dispute in robotics, salted in LOOC, typed ‘piece of shit’ and stormed off. History shows instances of suiciding over similar events in the past.

Just to clarify, this appeal is for adjusting the wording of the note itself to make things more clear and concise instead of misrepresenting your actions, yes?
