New buckle mechanics

Im unsure how others feel, but I feel a bit… annnoyed? (for lack of a better word) about the new buckle mechanics.

I don’t feel it makes sense that you cant activate internals, a PDA light switch, etc. when you buckle yourself into a chair. I aint exactly strapping my hands into 'em and gripping on for dear life.

I asked in discord and it appears that it acts as if your incapacitated, why?

I wonder if it’s an unintended bug perhaps? I aint a coder so I’m unsure. I believe it came into affect (atleast) over a week ago.

Basically, when you’re buckled into something, all the buttons on the top left turn red and are locked. You can’t interract with anything.

I agree. I noticed it when i was riding the jannie cart. You can’t toggle flashlights, or PDA lights. You can’t use the top buttons to turn on internals, but the side internal button still works. Its a recent change, and I don’t know how many people it really negatively impacts, but that number isn’t 0.

It is really annoying when you’re in a mech without internal atmos (Ripley and Firefighter) and forget to activate your internals.

This sounds like a bug rather than an intentional change, please report it with details on the github!

What I said or someone else?

Basically everything in this thread, yes.

I’ll need to have a look after work, I know theres a command in discord for how to report a bug so I’ll go ahead and do that if I remember.

Thanks dadmin

When did this change? It likely got updated with the mobility refactor but I thought that was a while ago and I swear I’ve been able to do this stuff while buckled

I couldn’t give you a specific timeframe, I just know its been going on for a little bit. I just got annoyed with it in the round that I then made this post for.

I made a video showing how it doesnt do anything:

The sooner a bug or unexpected behavior is reported the sooner it can be fixed or confirmed to be intentional.

Anything not in changelog or part of testmerged should be assumed unintentional though

We have confirmed this is an issue and are working on a fix, along with being unable to activate internals via the use of the top-left action buttons while in mechs.

Actually you aren’t actually meant to be able to use any items while in a mech and only can because the UI code is absolutely horrendous garbage which is now driving me insane. When I’m done you will properly be unable to use inventory items while in a mech
