Both were antags, one a vigilante and the other was a changeling in disguise. There was an additional player involved which was brand new, but they seemed to have had little effect on the situation overall and may have fallen victim to herd mentality given a lack of experience. For the CE/acting captain though, yes running to a crime scene you weren’t already a part of or a witness to and attacking someone is valid-hunting. You were the only person both experienced and unjustified involved here.
Your job as acting captain is to ensure security (and other departments) have staff and to direct them, not to partake in raids and takedowns or chase people through the hallway unless you were directly involved with or witness to the conflict as it unfolds. You are effectively the “king” in chess, the leader to be protected, not a frontline soldier unless necessary or the battle comes to you.
I’m pretty sure you know what validhunting is. This is only one example.
This situation hearkens back to the feedback I left in your character thread a few days ago:
shutting down the other player as fast and hard as you possibly can, and yet complain as if this happens to you whenever you lose a fight
You’ve been here for about two years at this point and have built a record of misleading or lying to us and potentially feigning innocence on numerous occasions. You’ve been given benefit of a doubt many times because you may have just forgotten the details of the situation, or a particular rule slipped your mind or maybe you just really didn’t know yet. You have “probably” but unproveably metagrudged on a few occasions as well. Generally speaking though, most of your history of issues stems from a desire to kill or round remove other players as a result of impulsive behavior in some form or another, regardless of the exact label applied to the situation (overescalation, too killhappy as antag, etc.)
When you are not directly breaking the rules or being generally trigger happy though you are still most often a net negative presence on the server, either because you are skirting the lines of a rule or because you are just completely isolating yourself and ignoring or preventing interactions with other players from happening, if not outright ignoring the duties of your role.
I spoke with other staff regarding this situation and had nearly unanimous agreement that you need a stern warning that the gloves are coming off - You have used up all of your “benefit of a doubt” at this point and will not getting any further passes for not realizing something may have been against the rules. You will get no further chances when it comes to being misleading or lying as well. If it seems like you are lying it will be treated as malicious.
This is technically your first instance of validhunting, but given that you should definitely have an understanding of what that is based on your history I am going to be placing a week ban. Per the warning above, subsequent issues will result in rapidly escalating punishment if you do not improve.
