IPC gang. Fuck medical. Only medical i need is a welder and cables.
This.
Most doctors are incompetent because there is no need for doctors in the first place. Most people cry and scream traitor if you try to doctor them, or complain that you wasted their time.
I think Iâm going to pick up my medical rework again after seeing this thread though. Your ideas more or less align with my intended changes, although not exactly.
This is something that should be kept in mind for all departments - there needs to be easy (even if less effective) options available for newer players to start with and work their way up from. For medbay, thatâs ready-to-go medkits and starter chems⌠that and if you canât fix it, you can clone it.
I mean if more issues were solved by quick and easy to memorize surgeries instead of chems i feel like it would be better. You could rework Autodocs too. Take a look at Goonmed and Baymed for ideas.
Tend wounds would like a word
Scalpel
Hemostat (automatically repeats)
Cautery
Congratulations, you have infinite burn and brute healing. Remove clothing around the chest to speed it up. Do research and perform it at an operating computer to speed it up even more.
How to revive a corpse that died to almost anything other than excessive toxin damage:
- Epi the corpse
- Tend wounds until you can defib
- Defib
- Continue tending wounds and/or CPR (depending on damage distribution) while epi does its thing.
Yes i know it exists and its never used.
Remove Brute Packs and make the brute healing chems for quick and strong major injuries as opposed to minor bruises.
splitting eyes would mean double the implants needed(maybe if you have one eye welding shield and the other xray or something it affects that side of your vision?)
God i can hear the cheering already.
deffibing someone with toxin reduces toxin to 150 i think? they are in hardcrit when they are defibed in every single case no matter what
IMO it should be the other way around.
Chems and topical treatments make more sense for minor injuries and surgery makes more sense for major injuries. That said; neither should ever be totally ineffective.
Defib flat out doesnât work if someone has more than 200 damage, and to the best of my knowledge (please tell me if Iâm wrong), there is no way to heal toxin or oxyloss damage on a corpse.
Cryo tube and blood filter isnt it?
Blood filter removes reagents, it doesnât affect your toxin damage at all. Cryo doesnât work on corpses - it relies on metabolizing cryoxadone.
thats why you should implement my tend wounds toxin :joker:
Would you like me to get an actual medical degree before or after it becomes that complicated? Fucking hell its TG all over again. Why is healing people (efficiently if you know what you are doing) that much of an issue? there are 7 billion ways to round end someone, just use one of them instead if you are upset someone took away your greentext because you put someone in a locker next to med.
Indeed, just lie down, take all your gear off, hope someone doesnât steal it and hope the medic doesnât stab you to death (both intentional and not) and wait 5 minutes for the process to finish because sci wont upgrade again. oh and you are 5th in line because there were minor fights or a hole in the station* and no way to patch them up and throw them out the door in seconds.
Time to look for a new home again?
Thatâs quite the over-dramatization of how things would be. There will always be multiple treatment options, especially for minor wounds - but this concept of being able to instantly restore any damage in the blink of an eye isnât good and promotes recklessness instead of taking threats/dangers to your life seriously⌠and that goes for both antags and normal crew alike.
Skirmishes and âharmlessâ fistfights become a lot less common when you remove âharmlessâ from the equation and thereâs actually some consequence for doing it because healing isnât instant, free and infinite and available just around the corner.
also to people who are complaining this will make death super annoying
are you aware this gives death meaning? you know, gives a fear of dieing?
We really need more Cryo tubesâŚ
Iâd just like to see trekchem back, nothing made me happier then a hypospray of tricordrazine. It was a much simpler time when horizontal people were much more common.
But itâs funny spaceman game⌠death has had no meaning. are you trying to give it one?
If you want 1 quick and easy fix that kinda pushes the limits from someone who put in a psychotic amount of hours into med;
Donât let sleeper and cloner be upgraded
Bam, fixes most of your issues of co-op and doesnât break everyone who likes maining med by keeping the super basic meds in stock.
90% of my med rounds are like this anyway. its suprisingly rare to be upgraded.
Also on the topic of cryo tubes, what the fuck, why? THEY WERE JUST NERFED MASSIVLY. why would you want to make time investment worse by needing to swipe a shit ton of atmos gear.
Cryo pods were awful and slow and not worth using, that was before you upped the chem drain drastically, now 1 crit person drains the entire batch
I didnt know that since i the only med job i play is paramed. My only job is stop bleeding and drag horizontal man on cart.
Fair, its a stopgap measure when you donât know how to fix the person in front of you, those who donât know throw em in and turn it on, those who do drag em out (grumble to themselves) and fix them
