This whole thread reminds me of a line from an anime caled dominion tank police. “We need Nukes to deter crime! If the police had nukes then noone would ever commit a crime again!” XD

They would need protections. Hos and officers have all the power and a lawyer is always either their puppet or not relevant

sure theres ic demotions but those are more of a fun thing than an actual solution

the protection the lawyer gets is the arresting officer; the lawyer sets the timer and the officer actually gets the prisoner seated in the cell/searches ect.

one problem with gulag is its directly connected to the cargo/mining territory, who are usually jumping at the chance to try and fuck over guns because sec doesnt want them ordering enough guns to make the armoury obsolete, so escaping tends to be stupid easy if theres an annoyed tech with a toolbelt.
