i’ve argued what ur saying (excluding the mrp being like lrp) probably about 80 times
the expectations are weird. i’m prolly contradicting myself here, but do u really think paradise is true mrp bc of the admins? HELL NO. it’s the PLAYERS. and there are plenty of good rp’ers on mrp as far as i can tell
it just seems like misplaced criticism. if someone is not being rp friendly on mrp, HOP ON THAT LOOC AND TELL THE BITCH lol love caps
You know why you cant get it? Because what you know, like, and endorse is not mrp, its lrp. If you dont want such restrictions, go to lrp, its what i prefer and it is what you probably like too. Problem is, lrp just kinda moved over to the mrp server, which is not okay, right? Something like paradise is a good example of an actual mrp server, and not only would they not let you have that name, they would also just straight up not be your cup of tea. Aurora wouldnt be it either. But not because its somehow a worse server, no no no. Its because it has a different standart, which has to be followed. And all the other servers accurately depict those standarts, whilst sage is claiming to be one step higher than it is, and lrp only left with the completely nonrp folks
I still dont get point one, did you like disagree with me on every point i made or something?
Yes paradise is a good mrp server only because of the player. Yes, sage has good mrp players. What is the problem, is that sage is also filled to the brim with lrp players, which would be better off on golden instead.
or how about this, breaking rp guidelines on mrp makes u valid to the entire station. HUH GUYS? WHAT DO WE THINK (sorry about that we i am NOT part of the mrp community)
That’s about as bad of an idea as all of our current instant-valid rules are on MRP, especially when we have conflicting rules that tell players not to dive into combat
It would be HRP if there were no such people as Dorito, indeed, I’m not sure you undertood my message.
I, personally, would not name my child in the name of a tortilla chip, but there are kids IRL with the name Wanker, Garage and Sucker so I don’t deny the possibility of someone in the world with this name.
If my last name was Dorito, I’d just rolled with it, don’t know why you try to bring ancestry up.
This is probably our core problem in this discussion. I see MRP as a place where people interract and act like people. They do their job properly, drink, argue and do their own things and are not breaking shit the moment they can whilst also doing dumb stuff from time to time. I don’t mind names like Nick Dorito, it doesn’t ruin my immersion, doesn’t make me sad or makes me want to grief.
This is what it is, me and you, we just see the core of MRP differently. And probably I’m in the wrong here since I played most of my time when there only was one LRP server. Still, this is the hill I’m standing on.
You described mrp perfectly, but what you fail to see, is that some people specifically might get their immersion broken from it. Well, those people are the minority, so they alone dont matter. What does matter, is that the players who are not meant for mrp see the name “nick dorito”, they think that its okay to use that name, and they name themselves something like “chad cock” and whilst we can clearly see that those names are not comparable, we can also definetly see how one could annoy the hell out of the server for its “inconsistency” whilst really its just proper human judgement not bound by the rules like a chain, problem is: whenever you leave something to human judgement - shit goes wrong. Then more and more fucked names which are actually a problem will get a pass, then something like the council happens which was a complete joke, yada yada yada.
Enforcing that rule against nick dorito was not done because nick dorito disturbed the players, its because it disturbed the rule players wanna keep.
Don’t get me wrong, it was going to boil over eventually anyway, but read the actual ban appeal information here instead of just following the aftermath.
Admin misreads a note as having warned the player to change their name
Admin bans appropriately if their reading of the note had been correct
Ban was rescinded almost immediately but not before a drama storm surrounding it had already taken off
Unbanned player gets re-banned for refusing to change it anyway.
Drama storm rages onward, renewed by this action without proper context.
Minor misconceptions have been had all around, myself included at first. I tried to step in on discord earlier, but decided to stay out of it because of how fast it was moving there and how hostile the chat had gotten.
The debate on the forum is at a relatively healthy point though, imo.
