Real aliens are probably not going to be earth species “but human.” Large bipeds can’t really be cold blooded, and their intellect would be trash.
Lizardmen would be better off having the same lore as the bugmen of being a weirdo experiment
Its not about realism, its about the space setting.
Green guys with big black eyes are not too realistic of an expectation either, but they fit nonetheless, but demons are something only cults and wizards should (and do currently) have.
If you tell me that a lizard race isnt trusted with command roles under a corporate rule and is being exploited for cheap low end labour because of their species, and aggresive tendencies, WHILST being recruited by an enemy corporation under the banner of freeing them from racism, now thats some good shit, and not even the lizards being unrealistic is going to ruin that yknow? Look, lizards are a living thing, and making it “lizards but human!” Seems like perhaps not a very new concept, but its a fitting one nonetheless, demons are LITERALLY fantasy creatures.

But yeah I can get that, I think my only issue setting wise w/ the various species we have right now (incl liz) is how common they are but you can’t really address that w/o goon style gating and RP-oriented AI and corporate laws.
I think that people claiming that this race, or any race, is bad for the lore are on a metaphysical high horse that somehow manages to tower above everyone else while not existing.
The line between technology/science and magic gets blurred the more advanced you get. The “demons” are likely to just be aliens that happen to look demonic, and past occurences of “demons” could even be explained with this.
I swear, the same people who complain about race lore are the people who want to nerf every department because of realism but somehow ignore the fucking dragons and wizards.

Addresing stuff with ai and corporatr shit in game is very cool i think personally, though i wont get into it too much since i understand why wouldnt you want it.
However, i must say, that i would be PERFECTLY fine and i would even be HYPED for demons if it was actually pulled somewhat… Concequentially? Okay we have demons. They are a fantasy creature. Very much biblical. Yes, you could do what perished said and just say that they look like this by chance, but why not make it a concequence of the actual lore story? We dont need demons in terms of gameplay, since noone told us anything worth ignoring lore, so we wont ignore lore. So how to make it fit?
You got a magical creature. What else does magic and is accepted in the lore properly? The wizard federation. So make them grow out of there! What would be a 5 page short pseudo historic documentary ss13 fanfic is more paradise style, so they would likely make them some sort of a magical being escaping after some grand incident. Not our style. I heard aurora pulls entire round events to progress their lore, but they are a (data expunged by a request of an aurora fan) hrp server and do even have wizards (corrected by an aurora fan). Aaaaand we also dont do it like that here. But what we do have is some casual paragraph. So adding them as purely a lore thing in our current style wouldnt be worth it.
It would be quite funny if the demons were a literal copy of felinids, except for “biofetishists” they are now some “magic degenerates” or whatever, and we wouldnt end that there. That would just be a copy-paste. Since on mrp we got rid of any in game forced world scenarios (as in the ai is now crewsimov and nonhumans can go command), how about we add felinid-demon rivalry? Maybe make it a little political struggle with those races being basically transferred specifically for this game of two different camps, where for certain actions they would be rewarded with some perks, or they would be penalized for loosing the race. (Maybe they are not crew or something, maybe they get coded to not be able to pick command and sec based on their current positions, maybe less tc from syndicate, maybe just rp). We would encourage people to rp their support towards the two camps and we would have a little dynamic basically created out of nowhere, with lots of room for adminbus and rp (again, thats the end goal because no proper gameplay addition was proposed). That way we would use a carbon copy of felinids in an interesting way. The initial incentive for participating being your visual preference and the end incentive this game.
