How do I stealth antag well?

How do I do antag stuff without getting caught?

I only play syndicate agent ( no BB ) btw

Consider why you dont want to be caught. It’s often more fun when you are spotted and hunted

How to get AA when traitor.

1. Buy thermal glasses (X-ray ones that allow you to see players through walls)
2. Get maint access
3. Come to the bridge maints.
4. Message HoP that you need some help in cargo or something and wait for him to close the hop line and leave.
5. Emag your way from the maints to the hop office
6. Find the id modification console that has been left logged in, since hop forgot to log out
7. Give yourself AA
8. leave through the same way you came from.

In the rare case the hop doesnt log out, does using a emag on the id console unlock it?

It does not, unlock it, but you will still get away without being cought.

I’d personly suggest using teleportation of any kind as that helped me not getting caught.

Some things that i do to stay under the radar (at least until I’m ready to out myself)

  • you can put gloves and a crayon in a washer to change the color of the gloves, this is a great way to hide the fact that youre wearing insuls.
  • if you decide to do something, commit to it, hesitation means being caught
  • have a backup plan so if something goes awry you can still try something else
  • always have an alibi for why you left your department, sometimes dragging an assistant around the station is all you need to not be questioned
  • if you really need somewhere to hide things (yourself or items) i like to pick a small out of the way maints room and use a false wall and replace the door so it looks like nothing is there, hidden rooms are great
  • if you gotta get in somewhere with motion alarms, crawl on the floor until you can reach the camera and a quick screwdriver and wirecutter will fix that
  • and finally and most important: you will get caught. No matter how hard you try sooner or later you will be caught, you just need to accept it and work it into your round, no plan is perfect and you can’t plan for every little thing!
  • (also storage implant and BS compressor doesn’t hurt)

AI

You can follow this guide to subverting the AI.

Cyborgs

Emagging cyborgs is also a very efficient way of getting friends. Simply tempt a cyborg with a better cell or a radio key and they will open up widely for you and let you swipe your emag on them with no risk of being outed.

Crewmembers

Simply asking and talking to crewmembers might help you more than you think. Ask the chemist for some funny grenade. Hell, ask them for something seemingly innocent even. Could be asking for pure meth in order to get high, only to use its explosive properties. Although, a good chemist will most likely wait till late-game to do those orders. Having a pile of cash would help with a lot of issues too. Ask them a bit sneakily if they are morally flexible. I’ve given a dude 200 units of pure meth for a sum of money, think he was going to use it for himself. Nope, he blew up a Security Officer. lol

Stealth

Do Your Job

Simply doing your job will make people comfortable with you. If you do your job and do it well, communicating a lot and so on you can very easily become acting Head of Staff or even get extra access. All you need is a justification. Want Science access? Ask for Exploration access saying you want to help the Explorers or say that you want to experiment with Xenoarch. Asking for things directly is not ideal as it makes it very obvious what your intentions are. If you want chemistry access, PDA message the AI to open tech storage and make your own meth lab somewhere else. Parts you can ask for in Engineering or Science or print them at an autolathe as a last resort.

Telecomms

A very simple method of being outed as an antagonist is yelling for help via comms. However, hacking comms is very easy to do. All you need is two remote signalers, some generic tools and insuls. Now get yourself inside telecomms. You could ask the AI to let you in to get a link for the Exploration shuttle or other telecomms system. Alternatively ask for Engineering access or hack yourself in. What you are looking for is the APC inside telecomms (not the one in the control room). Now you want to find the wire which controls the power. Once you find it with a multitool you want to cut it and mend it quickly to ensure no one notices comms going down. Install the remote signaler on the power wire and close it all up nicely. Now you have a remote way of instantly disabling telecomms and no one will know. AI might notice it on stations like Meta Station where the AI is right next to it while Box is probably the easiest one to get into. Send a pulse with the remote signaler and telecomms will be off for a few seconds, letting you do whatever you want for that time!!

Chameleon Kit

The power of the chameleon kit is immense. Do not underestimate it. I’ve subverted command, been outed as a changeling, thrown off Security just one door away, and all that for 4 TC (including the Agent ID)! Whenever you want something. Locate the general location or task of a head of staff, then disguise yourself as them. You will need to do some extra work in order to sell it well, get the coat, beret and so on. Ensure you got the mask too so you sound exactly like them! You can sell it extra well by using a fake stamp and some simple paper work. The more you make it look legitimate, the easier people will fall for it and not cheese it like double checking via comms.

Better to shove in combat gloves or krav gloves into a washing machines alongside as a added bonus of washing machines you can use head of staff stamps to get a copy of their jumpsuit

not related to the topic but for the main topic keep a eye out on alert status as that is likely a basic hint but I got nothing else to add

Heres my scitzo ramblings on the matter:

Never underestimate how lazy and unperceptive people are.
You can always get unlucky, of course, and thats part of the fun.
But aslong as you avoid doing stuff in plainly open view, you can get away with lots of stuff.

Put on a gas mask, hide your id (or put on an agent ID for extra gaming), to hide your identity
have maints access
then just hack the doors you need into if its a lower security door (should still be viable despite the hacking nerfs), and on higher securtiy doors or if lazy - emag them
C4 can also work pretty well to get through walls, though its loud so it might draw attention
if you can get some basic chemistry done thermite is also amazing to melt down walls
but usualy hacking and an emag is all you’ll need

and if you do all that, unless the department you walk into is verry bussy, you should be able to get in, nab the locker or whatever you want/need and get out . Atleast 2 outta 3 times noone will even bother you. And on the other one time, a fight or some roleplay or both can ensue so realy its even better.

then you can make a spear and spear open the locker, or just emag it and get your steal objective.
EZ

for kill objectives its a bit trickier, but not much. Usualy you can even get your target to come along with you to a dark corner where you can drag them off into maints. But you’ll want to either do the telecomms trick someone said, have the radio jammer, or just EMP them to disable them from yelling “help maint”
As for a quick and clean kill theres tonnes of options, depending on how robust you are. If you can get the drop on them with a flash and/or a stun of any kind, you should be good for a dirty takedown, and if even that is too scary for you you can just unload the revolver into them. If you pick the revolver you should get the hell out of dodge after though, cause that bitch be loud as fuck.

But the best tip of all - just try it, and apply the old dwarf fortress addage: Losing is fun!
I know for sure i had some performance anxiety when i started antaging, and i’d be lying if i told told you its completely gone. But thatst he #1 thing to overcome imo, if you go in with balls of steel you’ll be suprised what daring shit you can pull off. And eventualy, you’ll be so confident you’ll probabbly want to start doing more noticable and loud stuff as antag, once the adrenaline stops kicking as hard. - and ultimately, thats where you should be aiming to get to. Because if you do stealthy too well, it wont affect anyone besides you and be boring for evryone else. So eventualy you want to be able to be openly menacing to engage evryone and lead security on a merry chase for minutes on end ect ect

CLF3 gang, best gang! CLF3 is instant and easy as hell to make. When you actually heat it up though, do it in space or under a shower.

Don’t even need to buy it, all it takes is iron and uranium to make a mix. You don’t even need to turn it into a grenade, just mix the two in your backpack!

Getting friends or such can help a lot!

Depending on what you plan on doing, you could always… not stealth antag. If it’s not a capital crime there’s not much security or command can do against you aside from locking you in the slammer and taking anything you stole. But it’s relatively trivial to stash things before this happens leaving you with nothing to lose but time. Just be careful and actually hide things well, some people are always snooping and checking random places 4noraisin.

Risk is that you get a hard deny and are left with absolutely nothing.

Whata hard deny

Basically you try to do something and then you get denied by some opposition, like 5 Security Officers rushing you guns blazing.

Always examine the console since it shows you if the HOP left their ID in it. I’ve gotten AA loads before from the ID just being left in the console.

Not sure if a hop leaves his id that often, but I was reffering to the Log in / Log out options in the console, since usually the hop just takes out the id and exits the room, leaving the console logged in.

That’s why you don’t walk with all your inventory of contraband in your bagpack, because one arrest takes everything from you, plan ahead of time, like Darn said lol

Anyways, going back to OP topic i agree with what Darn said, it’s not bad to go a little loud, at best you will probably face fifteen minutes of brig time if you commit something like a murder, you can always try to speak to reduce your sentence depending on the crime and context of the scenario.

While stealth-antag is a good way to slowly learn the ways on how to be a traitor and familiarize yourself with everything it might prove detrimental to you and the round if it becomes an habit, the objectives you’re given are optional the whole ‘‘Green Text/Red text’’ doesn’t really matter, what matter is that you, alongside other players end up having fun or face an out of the ordinary situation thanks to your actions as an antagonist.

Let me give an example:

Let’s say you got the objective to steal the Reflector Vest that’s on armory, you follow Ambiic/Bacon suggestion and prepare CFL3/Thermite, buy a Comms Jammer so you don’t get detected by the motion camera alarm that’s on the camera on space of armory, you destroy the wall, grab the vest and run.

Well, you certainly did your objective as efficient as possible, there’s little trace of evidence to follow and you’ve reduced your chances to be caught by a lot. Now what’s next? That’s when you need to start thinking on ways of antagonizing, if you’ve secured your objective you might as well take the role you’re given to cause some crimes or issues, from small sabotages, bombing or getting into a fight and escalating the situation, ideally you need to try to involve other crewmembers into your plans otherwise in the long run you’ll just get bored because the default objectives can get quite stale.

If you’re one of many players who are a little scared of going loud and prefer to do everything silent, that’s fine, you can take it slow and familiarize yourself with the items at your own pace or observing how other antagonist do their gimmicks as well as measuring when and how to act based on the circumstances on the round, if your objective is to steal the HoS gun you clearly won’t grab an e-mag and rush his locker when you saw Security being full staffed but you could perhaps take your chance to sneak in when Security is on the other corner of the station fighting against another threat or maybe loot the HoS body if it’s unsupervised on medbay and stuff like that.

Sometimes things will go your way, sometimes it won’t, it’s all part of a never ending learning experience but as long as you feel like you had fun and tried to involve others in your shenanigans you’ll be fine!

Should’ve left a proxy bomb there for the poor Officer or Engineer showing up to the scene. lol

Just to flex.
