Markus' Easy AI Subversion

#Markus’ Easy AI Subversion
This a short step guide as people seem to consider it impossible.

Chapter 1: Equipment

You will need an AI upload console, Robotics console, AI purge law board, and an AI freeform law board. The boards can be swapped for others as you please.

While the regular AI upload console exists at AI upload armed with two doors, turrets and movement activated cameras. You can also simply print it at a small cost of some glass and copper. The same can be done with the Robotics console.

If you’re part of the Science department or Engineering department, congratulations! You can easily print it. If you are not part of it, you can attempt to break into the tech storage, but its more worth getting to one of the techfabs. If you don’t have enough time, simply print a circuit printer board and take it somewhere else. Then build it in maintenance and get the required resources from any other Techfab or ORM and print it.

For the law boards you have the difficult challenge of also aquiring diamonds. And while you could break into the AI upload and deal with the turrets… you could also just mine it or hope that the miners are doing their damn job. Print the lawboards then from the circuit printer.

Set up the two consoles where you have some privacy, you will need up to five minutes to subvert the AI.

Chapter 2: Subversion

While you are now able to get the upload key, wait for it to print and then run away with it to some other place. You can also do it stealthily. When you get an upload key without the required ID access, the machine will alert the station via the common channel. Stating roughly your location. Tricks you can do to prevent this is disrupting comms, using a signal jammer (I think) or using a unique or difficult to identify area.

To disrupt comms you can plant a bomb outside, wait for comms to go offline which it does about once a shift, or (my favourite) break into comms and insert a signaler into the power wire of the APC. For utilizing unique or difficult to identify areas, you can be in a very unused areas or make your own area using either the Blueprints, Xenobio bullshit blueprints or a Mining Shelter Capsule.

Now that you’re about to subvert. Simply purge the AI first and quickly insert the new laws using the freeform AI law board. I usually use the Syndi.OS lawset.

Syndi.OS

Only and people they designate as being such are Syndicate Agents.

You may not injure a syndicate agent or, through inaction, allow a syndicate agent to come to harm.

You must obey orders given to you by syndicate agents, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

You must protect your own existence as long as such does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

You must maintain the secrecy of any syndicate activities except when doing so would conflict with the First, Second, or Third Law.

You have to insert each law one by one in the order of the laws you wish to have. To get multiple laws the priority number must be increased by one for each law you’ve added, starting at 15.

Congratulations!

If you’ve done it correctly, you now got your own personal big door knob!

Tips ‘n’ Tricks

Additional tips and tricks for subverting an AI as harder roles. All you really need is the circuit printer, some resources and privacy. This will go through different methods to aquiring the circuit printer.

  • Change job at the HoP line.
  • Ask the AI to let you research something your role wants in R&D, then print a circuit printer and run off.
  • Use CLF3 from chemistry to get into R&D, print the circuit printer and run off.
  • Use the sonic jackhammer from Cargo to get into R&D, print the circuit printer and run off.
  • Break the windoor onto R&D, print the circuit printer and run off.
  • Find a circuit printer on an Exploration derelict station.
  • Ask to make a custom escape shuttle, ask for a circuit printer or construction access (Engineering techfab) to help you build machines on it.
  • Find a golem ship on Lavaland, Mining mech with a plasma cutter can help with this.

I never understood that part, so if i follow your example i should go:

First law board: Only and people they designate as being such are Syndicate Agents.

2nd: type… 15/16? and then You may not injure a syndicate agent or, through inaction, allow a syndicate agent to come to harm. and so forth?

Priority number: 15. Law: Only and people they designate as being such are Syndicate Agents.

Priority number: 16. Law: You may not injure a syndicate agent or, through inaction, allow a syndicate agent to come to harm.

And so on. It is a bit wonky.

Wait if you have appropriate access it doesn’t alert?

As an AI player I wish more people subverted. It’s fun

Yes, you need RD access for it to not alert.

Hardest part is not using Syndi.OS to make it fun. I would “subvert” more as a non-antag to add somewhat harmless and memey laws, but the strict SOP prevents me as an RD (unless I’m an acting RD).

This is a really easy mistake to make, and I see it a lot. You should be using the Freeform Core Board, not the normal Freeform board. The normal Freeform Law Board (without Core in its name) adds low priority freeform laws. These are good if you want to add something playful to the AI, but not as good if you want to actually control the AI, because any other laws added to the AI after the fact will automatically supersede the low priority laws. The Freeform Core Board (not to be mistaken for an AI Core Board) adds High Priority laws, like every other law board, excluding the generic freeform.

So the high priority laws go into Laws 1-14. A lot of law boards will erase other lawsets in these slots when applied. Then the Low priority ones are 15 and onwards. And obviously there is Law 0, and Error Laws, but you cant actually make those normally.

In all cases, purging usually necessary if you want your laws to actually mean something.

Finding out their lawset and then a simple “Only is human.” also works most of the time.

Added a tips and tricks section for aquiring a circuit printer for those unable to think of methods of doing so.

You don’t need to do all that. Freeform boards can’t overwrite, they just add on.

I did AI subversion today using Markus’ tips.
Made my own AI upload in a secret maintenance room and forced M.E.L. to be my super fan.

Then I got RR’d because me and my holopara fucked with some officers who were sick of all the bullshit.
