They sort of do offer the protection, the problem is that you need to place full tile windows on the corners.

Single-Directional Depleted Uranium Windows ONLY BLOCK RADS if they’re sealed in.(Screwdriver/Crowbar/Screwdriver) (And corners covered)
For Example -
You need to have the corners covered as well, also walls let rads through, so using walls as one side shouldnt work to block rads fully.
