It’s been about 2 and a half years since i’ve put this thing on hold and in the recent months it actually became a proper station instead of just a vague outline. Since there is currently a mapping freeze in effect, it can’t be test merged any time soon, so meanwhile please put any suggestions and criticism here (or on Github). Also name suggestions would be appreciated. Bunched is just the placeholder name i’ve been using thus far. Some suggestions by Liver-1 i’ve liked were cardinal station (card station) and causeway station.
Bunched Station (WIP name) Card Station is a station based around 4 central corridors running in cardinal directions. Despite being about as large as Fland station in footprint, it’s departments are placed and laid out is such a way as to ensure player interaction.
Design principles:
-High traffic areas such as security, bridge, and medbay are all located at the ends of the corridors, forcing traffic to go trough the service-oriented center.
-Most rooms directly connected to the corridors also have plentiful windows facing them with optional shutters or curtains. This is done to allow anyone from the corridor to see and talk directly to people who may be busy in their workplace, who would usually be tucked away somewhere far from sight. The shutters are there to permit some privacy to the people working, while their prevalence will make it less likely for anyone to suspect them of shady business if they do choose to close their department off. It’s not suspicious if everyone’s doing it.
-Greenery is present in most places. Just like in real life, having some plants around makes the whole space more pleasant to look at.
-More gimmick areas such as an actual Theater, Barbershop (WIP), decently sized office and a maintenance night club.

Checked around for the jobs I main and I think the griddles should be placed closer like shown in the image below. I also think there should be two ovens where the microwaves are and a single microwave where the oven is considering microwaves aren’t as useful as they used to be.
Awsome map! The big halls are cool, but they’ll be an atmos nightmare, though they have a decent number of firelocks. Maybe make sure the atmos air tank has enough to refill the large halls?
Second detail is how secure the key points are. Vault is near impossible to access from space (for things like pirates) and the armory is in the middle of security.
The force walls in front of the bridge are also a bit of a concern. While cool I’m pretty sure they are unbreakable, so not great for nukies, space bridge breakins, etc. Maybe consider replacing them with more typical blast doors under the windows?
As a final note the prebuilt atmos burn chambers make me happy!
i am concerned for vault-related antag objectives due to how public the vault is, given that it’s right next to both command and science entryways (as opposed to most maps where it’s a little out of the way). maint access is good, but would it be possible to turn the windows facing east out of the conference room into walls to reduce visibility?

NGL I’m hyped for the natural greenery area at the northern part of the map and the “Departments at hallway ends” aspect also really jives with me.
has a very cool and badass theatre. Going to start getting jealous about all the amenities this station has when i’m doing a gimmick on any other one now
