I think you actually want a two handed plant bag. Moving plants is hell otherwise. I don’t think we should limit the plant bag however- it has multiple uses. You can store seeds, produce, and plant data disks in it.
What you’re suggesting is neutering botany in my opinion without a suggestion to make it more fun. Just more tedious.
I like the idea of chef having a tray of their own.
That is a stroke of brilliance. Easy to use for doing the job of moving produce around in bulk, but awkward to use for the purposes of carrying 200 mini-nukes.
From my experience playing as and with botanists, it’s undoubtedly the most chill job on the station. It’s a great place for new players and most botanist mains don’t play it for the power gaming options. This should be preserved in any changes. I think your point about limited late game options is really good, and that should certainly be addressed. Maybe have a theme of pacifism for the department, and add some crowd control and stunning options in place of the more lethal chemicals. It would also be nice to remove their dependence on other departments, as botany can slow to a crawl if no one in sci is willing to hand over an inducer. This could easily be achieved by tweaking the capacitive cell mechanics, or simply giving the botany dispenser a replaceable battery since they can already manufacture their own. It would also be nice to tweak the mechanics behind earthsblood, as getting it makes botany an instant cake walk, and removes the water, weed, and pest mechanics all together. Perhaps you could make it simply advance the age of a plant on application, making it still very good, but not have it remove the depth of plant care all together.
You could probably still drag it around botany and take stuff out as normal but if you attempted to grief with it, someone could just shove you or pick the bag up while you drag it around, doesn’t stop you filling your normal backpack with them sadly but progress I guess?
bruh you should be able to use your plants lol, just because we dont want people carrying 1000 holy/nitro nades and instant heals doesn’t mean we don’t want people to be able to use the game mechanics in a creative way
Neutral on the issue but was just pointing out that it only lessens rather than stops at a slight restriction to everyone.
20 is definitely better than hundreds tho, agreed on that.
Did you know you can use corgium to view deadchat? Turn into a corgi, have someone kill you. Now quick! Look at deadchat and meta before the chemical runs its course and brings you back to life.
Side effects may include boinks, warning notes, bans, or other forms of intervention. Not suitable for all players, ask your doctor before using corgium. Do not use corgium if you are pregnant, under the age of 13, currently infected by a xenomorph, or in close proximity to a chef. Not approved by the Space FDA.
The idea to leave botany chem dispenser boards in service lathe is also great, I like it.
I’ve had players (assistants looking for access from HoPs and HoPs themselves), ask for corgium before. A good nerf might be making it require some arbitrary amount of units such as 50u, so that gaseous decomp. plants don’t bully the station.
Also Adv. Mutation skellie juice is like my bread and butter as services offered to station, next to flight potion. Its cool
Also since almost all death plants need DNA modification… Why not make it a tech. And before it is unlocked botanists gotta use grafts from shudders TG botany
