ah yes, lets lock the most important part of botany behind a tech so that botany gets shafted by a lack of scientists, incompetent scientists, or scientists who just don’t want to help. On top of potentially making them reliant on chemistry, which is even worse because even less people play chemistry so the above reasons are compounded. Should botany be able to do everything without ever leaving hydroponics? No. But there is no other department that relies on other departments to this extent, with the exception of power from engi, no department is reliant on the other to complete at least their basic function. Botany should be able to be mostly independent instead of relying on 3 whole departments to be staffed, competent, and willing to help, just to do their role.
