In that case, if I am correct, you plant a pumpkin with a maturity of 4-6 (?) and every harvest of random length 1-10 (due to mutations) will roll 2 mutation checks which on a 10% chance will mutate it into a blumpkin, throwing 300u of mutagen at a plant is bad enough… the likely hood that a plant will never mutate in a round seems more common than preferred.

That’s not how it works, player doesn’t need to like a design decision. The result would be improved gameplay once the special needs players calm down and the new becomes the “unchangeable”.

You can also use pure radium which you get directly from glowshrooms which fulfills exact same role as mutagen, just twice the amount is needed.
I’m with Massked on this one, botany chem dispenser is just there to not make botany a chore, and if it’s removed it’d make botanists always tide for chem dispensers or break in chem. Chemist already has enough on their hands, especially during roundstart and pandemics, and is usually too busy making meth to actually provide enough mutagen and saltpetre for botany. Not to mention depending on rng you might need 100 to 200u of mutagen to mutate a plant species, and chemists have very limited energy for all the meds they have to make. And for certain plants using Left 4 Zed isn’t an option since they take waaaaay too long to even grow, let alone getting good stats.
Why should you get any plant in existence with just few clicks from roundstart?
