Seeing the light of TG, the more complex wounds system is a nice counter to first aid kits that makes them actually first aid. To the point where, yes, please take the first aid kit/chemistry drugs for stabilization/moderate healing purposes. You can slap the greatest goddamn patch the lord has ever crafted on a patient and they still likely have to come to medbay depending on the severity of the injuries. It gives me less work when the patient comes to medbay with three broken bones and second degree burns, and likely still some damage to be dealt with. Alive patients are faster to work with, and they don’t rot.
Without the complex wounds system, a first aid kit can turn a mess of flesh and wounds into a perfectly recovered gamer 90% of the time. No doctor required. There should be a role for first aid kits as actual first aid kits (and therefore, not as powergamey and more reasonable). They’re just too strong in this codebase IMO.
It’s completely different as far as character flavor goes. It’s no longer a cop pretending to be a medic, it’s a cop being a funny stereotype (particularly if they don’t directly acknowledge the healing power and just inexplicably want donuts after a bad encounter). Donuts and liquor also come with counterbalancing downsides, either making you fat or drunk for using too much.
Again, the issue isn’t so much that security is able to heal themselves, it’s the fact they’re treating medical equipment like part of their default loadout instead of seeking treatment after injuries.
All I gotta say about that is just use a cardboard box to replace the medkit
Yep, that’s a valid work-around and intentionally left available, as explained in the PR itself:
No matter what, people are still going to powergame - it’s up to admins to deal with those people. The PR is aimed at making it more intuitive that maybe players shouldn’t just grab a whole-ass medkit worth of supplies.
Admins have already ruled directly, and collectively as a group (See the admin quote in the first post here from @ro5490) on this matter though.
If while fully knowing that, you or anyone is going out of their way to ensure they’re still capable of carrying excessive meds… well, admins will deal with it and you’ve effectively been warned. This thread started and exists as a warning to others who have been doing it without being caught.
It’s different because beestation is a roleplaying server, how is this so difficult to understand?
Its different because in character, seccies and HoS are only satiated by 3 things.
DELEVERING SPESS LAW JUSTICE.
Sweet sweet doughy goodness.
and the only thing more SEC than SEC itself, QUADRUPLE SEC.
