Antag rolling

That’s fucking cold-blooded. There’s already an option to donate, and I think about it all the time… but then I remember that this is the common sentiment.

It’s a problem that’s already solved. If it gets to a point we’re turning away a significant number of people, then people who genuinely love bee will donate and we’ll have 70 dedicated amazing members who actively contribute and no leechers.

Gotta dip, but I do want to apologize for that “let the adults talk” comment. I got too heated over the prospect that you didn’t even care what others had to say and just want to argue for the sake of it.

You’re entitled to your opinions.

I have my stance on the issue and I’ve made it incredibly clear. I’m not here to argue every tangential thing other people want to bring up, I’m here to try and make others understand why I think my opinion is the better one and failing that I am not going to suddenly find a second-best option to fight for.

I think this is a dumb ruling, and I think it’s a silly rule that probably won’t be enforced because it’s a silly ruling… and therefore shouldn’t even be a ruling in the first place.

And I never said you or your opinions were invalid, Ruko. I just wish you’d be more respectful of others. The people you dismiss as “shitters” are still people. Just because they don’t live up to your standards doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings and it’s just fine to tell them to fuck off without ever feeling the slightest tinge of guilt.

Nah the thread is fine because discussing stuff is needed, and since I hate the ‘antag rolling’, or ‘antag farming’ or however it’s called, I’m more than happy that a lot of people are thinking the same way here.

im just shitposting

I think in the end this will be barely enforced, which is why I’d rather it not be a ruling in the first place.

If enforced to the letter, innocent people get caught in the crossfire.

If barely enforced, it needn’t be a policy and we can stick to admin discretion and general “don’t be a dick” flavor rules.

I want to be clear that I don’t dismiss you as a shitter - I dismiss people who offer nothing to RP and actively disrupt rounds as shitters

  • People who break into (insert department) for supplies instead of asking, excluding crisis
  • People who play exclusively Assistant, rush tools and Greytide in general.
  • People who run around picking fights because they’re bored
  • People who only play to do a personal project and see any and all interference with that project as a personal affront to them.

These are still people, but they are not people that belong on MRP. You remain as the only good mime I’ve ever seen.

And I think that this will start to be enforced, it has not been made a rulling without a reason. And I will be reporting behaviour like this (Yeah admins, you can start hating me again :flushed:).

I’m not talking about myself here either.

There are a lot of people that you or other admins can easily dismiss as a “shitter” when they could potentially have so much more to offer and it’s just not fair to them to dismiss them.

In the end, I feel like this is a rule that’s going to be used in rare cases so admins have an excuse to ban people they already dislike and that sentiment disgusts me.

Antag rolling has as far as I’m aware always been frowned on by other admins and it isn’t all that rare to see people cryo round start because they didn’t roll antag. I wouldn’t consider the rule useless.

It’s not useless and it has its place.

It worries me though. A lot. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here arguing it. I’m not prone to long drawn out needless arguments. If other people don’t agree with me that’s fine, I don’t care enough to drag it out.

I just really desperately hope people don’t start eating bans for this unless they are genuinely affecting other people by doing it. I don’t want to see people being removed from the community in any capacity for something that I don’t even consider a problem in the first place.

It would almost always only be antag bans, to be clear - not server bans.

ive made the mistake of leaving warden or something on low, or cap on low and not seeing

That just seems like cruel irony and doesn’t make me feel much better.

The thing I worry about is that the admin team doesn’t understand the duality of your average player.

I can be a good mime one round but then get burned out and want to roll for antag after that and there’s really nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with being burned out on a particular role but still wanting to play, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with just playing for fun every once in a while.

There’s also the minefield of human error and emotional decisions. Not just high tension stress-induced panic, but generally being a human at all. Not everyone can be a perfect player 100% of the time and most people are only a “good” player a relatively “average” amount of time. We’re not bots. We’re people.

It’s sad to see people get banned for doing silly shit in a bad mood on a bad day when they’re great players on good days.

And it’s even worse to see by-the-books 'mins banning people who are otherwise good players for one or two otherwise isolated instances of shitty behavior… and when those otherwise isolated instances start to add up, an otherwise very good player can look very very bad from an admin perspective by looking at their notes and ban history.

I mean, it’s a game. Being banned, rightfully or wrongfully, isn’t the end of the world.

Being kicked in the testicles five consecutive times isn’t the end of the world either. Things that aren’t the end of the world can suck.

It just seems like a big deal over a relatively insignificant change. But that’s just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt and all that.

Did you know that admins are also humans? And they look at your history, they ask you questions to make sure that they don’t punish you for no reason? Yeah mistakes happen, but that’s why bans are appealable (or at least most of them are). Stop trying to make it look like soulless admins are going to have one more excuse to ban innocent players, because they decided to cryo, as this is most likely not going to happen.
