I just want to know. There’s a difference between what I should do vs what I’m allowed to do. Because it can be very debilitating having to remember to call the nightmare the shadow man from London. It just, it scares me to think that screaming ling or nightmares during high distress once could lead to reprimand. Can good faith protect me from that? I don’t know if I can trust the veteran players on this. It’s always debilitating thinking about stuff like this.
Bait as in it’s something that requests their attention when they rather ignore it.
I told you that admins don’t like to pass judgement over theoretical because it becomes a game of he said she said when someone gets ahelped.
Trolling Hugo with the “Will I get banned if I use the name ‘Surp Risebuttsex’” can be funny because he bites the bait but admins will generally avoid this type of thing.
And I bet you’ve grown the fame of being “the guy who asks a lot of questions”, and idk if thats a good look.
But hey I’m talking out of my ass, so this could all be wrong. But I still advise you to take the word of the veteran players, the ones that stay clear of trouble at least.

I’m sorry but if a guy tries to start an interesting/good thread idea and gets constantly shot down by bait replies/random memes/“erm bad thread they just won’t care…”
Then obviously that thread will fail and admins won’t read it
I’ve seen other servers with such a concept implemented (and moderated to remove the bait) which works well and is useful for newbies, like fulpstation, which has a dedicated discord channel
It’s super annoying to read through those two threads and have everyone chime in to meme or ignore the actual premise. It’s a good idea to pitch to admins and I doubt they’d be against people seeking to know how to better follow the rules lol
This is an interesting question, which was brought up a couple times with no general consensus AFAIK.
Giving my non-admin opinion here -
On one hand, it’s just better roleplay to explain “Oh I saw a shadow man in maints who was breaking lights”
On the other, you just can’t say that while being murdered/chased, so shouting “NIGHTMARE MED MAINTS” is much more effective
The “in good faith” here does apply, if you have the capacity to go into details, it’s much cooler to act as if it’s completely unknown, but there are plenty of situations where you have to shout “BLOB MAINTS” rather than “Weird yellow thing in maints !”.
Especially for important threats, there are things that the crew just knows what they are, like, wizards are known galaxy-wide for being mass murderer wild cards.
It’s one of those things where you just can’t cover every edge case, and I’ve never seen someone banned or noted for saying “oh shit a revenant in medbay”. Generally, if an admin brings that up, it’s because the rest of the logs are just LRP shit from a true gamer, so as long as you don’t powergame and know every antag and how they work as a janitor, you’re good
So yeah, don’t worry about it too much, you won’t be beaned/reprimanded over something minor like this. It’s basically on par with SoP breaks, yeah an admin will just turn a blind eye to minor breaks but definitely bwoink you if you’re not following it at all to fuck around doing LRP shit

3 - Based on the previous points I’m actually trying to do right by him and not just have the thread be ignored by replying on it with my piece of advice. It makes me sad when someone is ignored but if non-admins aren’t allowed to answer and I know for a facts admins are ignoring it then I find it necessary to say something as to not leave the person who made it howling solitarily into the wind.
4 - There’s no conflict. We like Aligote. And we view him as a peer. As I make fun and talk to my friends so have I done with Aligote here and outside. You coming to create conflict with righteous indignation in things you aren’t called for really annoys me.
I’ll just say I do appreciate Howluin’s contributions and don’t think they were particularly aggressive. I’m sure Pink had the best of intentions as well. That’s all that needs to be said.
