As I’ve said before, you can remove basically all departments from the game and leave only cargo and they would survive no problem. If you were to remove sec, cargo would become the new gun department.
Are you implying cargo takes into account securities existence before ordering guns?

Security is already defunded in practice, cargo doesnt bring anything you buy to you and the officers are ready to work for the power fantasy ecstasy
Even the only real thing sec is good for, guns, can be outdone by cargo. More variety, sheer number, gear, etc.
Sec 9/10 times is a secondary department(speaking from experience) which has nothing better to do aside from Validhunt. With the playstyle on LRP, sec is redundant, and on MRP, makes antags uninteresting. On top of Sec mostly being an excuse to fight others with little IC interaction leading up to the fights.
I have had bar fights which were more interesting and better roleplayed than any fight I’ve seen with a Sec officer involved.
Only time security is anywhere near interesting within the round is Nations, and even then, cargo tends to be a bigger threat later on.

I think it would be a good idea for LRP, owing to the fact space law pretty much doesnt exist on it; having only a HoS without any actual means of detaining people in cells, only gulaging them if they are shitters/executing them if they are traitors means secs role is shifted pretty much exclusively to valid hunting
