Title: Cobrador mascarado banned by Tamumus

CKEY:
Cobrador mascarado
Admin’s CKEY:
Tamumus
Ban Type:
role ban from antag
Ban Length:
7 days
Ban Date (YYYY/MM/DD/):
2024-06-25
Ban Reason:
Trend of early cryoing when not antag. This constitute antag rolling, don’t do that.
Appeal Reason:
I only do that for ghost roles. When i join a round and i don’t feel like playing in that specific station, role or situation i then cryo and pick a ghost role. When there are no fun ghost roles (such as ashwalker, golem, VIP, assasination target ect) i then just leave and go do something else. I don’t remember any time i did that then waited for antag roles or something, matter of fact sometimes while cryoing early i had the chance to try an antag ghost role to wich every time i refuse!

As per the rules and mechanics, that’s still antag rolling.
Antag rolling doesn’t apply solely to taking antag midrounds, it also applies to normal antags - each time you start a round, you get to roll for one, and cryoing instantly upon not getting one does constitute antag rolling.

Also, If you don’t like playing in that specific station/situation, why do you still come back on station as a midround VIP ? (which also get a chance to be an antag)

That doesn’t make any sense… How come cryoing for a non antag role constitute antag rolling? I’m not leaving the game because I didn’t get antag I’m leaving the station to play a non antag ghost role

That also makes no sense, playing the round normally also has a chance to get me converted for a cult, revolution, sleeper agent etc; and I actively don’t do that, going for roles that can’t become antags at all such as golems or ash walkers.

I also didn’t even know vips could be antags that never happened to me lol. I just play em because I get to explore the derelict stations without being an explorer, wich I find fun, do I really need to justify why I find something fun or not?

Antag rolling is taking a station job with the hopes of being an antagonist.

Taking a station role and immediately abandoning it because you didn’t actually want to play that job is antag rolling.

Why are you choosing a station job at all if you want to leave it immediately? Because you wanted to be an antagonist on the station, yes? That is what makes it antag rolling.

If no, why are you even starting on the station at all? Just observe from the start.

Hello, or evening.
This ban was placed because we observed a trend of you cryoing early on as crew when you’re not an antag.
If you’re still confused about what antag rolling as it’s defined for this ban is, I can elaborate.
But I feel ruko and Howl covered it well, and probably better than I will.
As is, I don’t see a reason to lift the ban and will leave the thread open in case you have questions.

Do not do this.

This is strictly against the rules.
If you join the round as a role, you’re expected to play that role.
Don’t join if you don’t want to play.

If you are only interested in playing a ghost role, join as an observer and go take a ghost role.

No… That’s merely speculative. Matter of fact I prefer playing a non antag station role than playing a boring or bland antag such as cult or revolution for example.

I just don’t want to play that station role at the time and this has nothing to do with wanting to play an antagonist role.

Sorry if this sounds rude but I lack clairvoyance to know how a round is gonna be before I join it, so when I ready up for a round there’s no way I can put my willingness to play into that specific situation if the situation itself didn’t yet came to be

That’s not what I said… I said that if I don’t find a round interesting to play I’ll cryo for a ghost role. I don’t leave the game I continue playing it as a non antag ghost role

Do the math, I’m not antag 80%+ of the time, if I cryo randomly you can assume that 4 out of 5 of the times I cryo it’s when I’m not antag; correlation does not mean causation!

How long into a round are you cryo-ing?
You really shouldn’t be cryo-ing until at least 30-45 minutes in.
That’s how long it can take for things to really start picking up. Often people are getting their departments set up, miners are getting ores, Science is getting research done, Engineering is making sure that power is good, etc.
If you take a role, then that’s a role that someone else didn’t get, and it’s not fair if you then just go and waste it by cryo-ing right away.

If you absolutely must go early into a round because something has come up, then AHelp before you cryo.
If it’s something along the lines of “I’m bored, I want a ghost role”, though, don’t expect us to react favorably.
The antagonist ban is the standard for people who cryo early into a round repeatedly.
It will escalate further if the early cryo-ing continues.

That’s mostly irrelevant in my decision of playing a round or not; it let’s say I join with gimmick role set to high and then I get a boring role such as psychiatrist and I have no idea of how to make this round fun then It’s just fair that I leave the game or do something else in it; I’m not negatively affecting the round in any way by just deciding I’m not gonna play it once I see that I’m a lone explorer or that I’ve been forced to play a role that I dislike.

That’s just not even remotely in tone with the current situation; that never even happened to me, sometimes I cryo specifically because there’s no one to play with me and I don’t want to play a role play game by myself…

In weekdays I tend to play for a couple hours before I have to join online classes, It gets me to relax before having to stay a couple hour focusing and studying. I think it’s fair that I ahelp in these situations to let you guys know when I need to cryo. By the way this justifies like 50% of the times I cryoed, further supporting my argument that I’m not antag rolling

If your preferences are configured this should almost never happen. You are only queued for roles you didn’t explicitly say you wanted to play if you are opted in to random roles when your chosen roles are taken.

Switch this setting to “return to lobby” instead of “random job”. It’s located on either the top or bottom of the screen where you set how much you want each role.

Then you have prevented someone else from being the psychiatrist.

That’s what is being referenced by @oo7craigmc here, and is relevant with all of the jobs that have a low limit or even a single slot.

Nah. That happens when I go for gimmick role and then the game randomly decides a lame gimmick role (instead of allowing me to set my preferences to a specific gimmick role, fix that btw) or when I get a role that is fun with a team but then no one else comes in, such explorer for example

That makes no sense lol, I get randomly picked as a psychiatrist, gimmick role preferences do not let me choose which role I get. It’s really the game’s fault on this circumstance. If I’m going for a role such as chaplain that has a low amount of slots then I’m mostly probably gonna play it tho, it just comes to show how imprecise is this observation

Why don’t you wait and late join to see if the gimmick job you like spawned? Seems like a no-brainer unless you’re readying up to roll antags.

Cus I forgot you can choose specific gimmick roles if you want for the round to start and just then join, thanks for remembering me.

That’s a speculative argument

Right. I’ll close this.
This is going nowhere, the rules have been explained and laid down.
Punishment is fair given the offence.
Denied.
