I personally think that greentexts and objective cause a bad mentality of disregarding the fun of everyone else on the server, whether it is killing someone 10 minutes into the round or calling the shuttle super early in the round because you completed all your objectives fast, wasting everyones time.
It also over time leads to lessen your own fun when you only focus on it.

I use objectives to guide me, but I donāt stick to them religiously; If I can come up with a gimmick it will always come first.
Iāve been doing the same lone operative gimmick for a few days now:
- CQC, Radio Jammer, Chameleon no-slip, bangproof headset and flashproof glasses
- Immediately ditch the hardsuit, bulldog and other obviously nukie shit into a locker once Iām on station
- Disguise self as greytider with gasmask and supplied agent ID, pocket the knife and stetchkin for backup.
- Drop pinpointer in vault if it was still on capās desk
- Arm nuke for 10 minutes instead of 90 seconds
- Insult and challenge crew over comms if they can find me, enable radio jammer
pros:
- gets people fuckinā movinā instead of just relying on you having a good gimmick in mind
- makes it easy to tell whether or not you can murderbone or not so you donāt get in trouble with admins based on subjective shit
- beecoins, iām 5k off from antag token
cons:
- makes people think of gimmicks less
- is influential in normal ss13, so it ended up in NSV13 and results in hour long rounds where the antag calls as early as possible, so all the setup you do in preparation for hours of personal projects and battles is just meaningless tedium.
I play on aurora because even though Iām playing the same antag every fucking round the people Iām playing with always have different gimmicks. Iād say add in Antag OOC like they have but it would just be metacomms
I meanā¦ Some people just arent that creative as antag. Its also nice to have an end goal to look forward though, even if you are gimmicking your way there. Though calling the shuttle early is a dick move, id say there should be someone stopping the antag from doing that, no?
green makes dopamine and removing it would be mean
I dislike that greentext is used as a limiting factor because of how the server rules are written, gimmicks are limited to completing objectives. I like that it gives sometimes challenging objectives like take out some head of staff. Theft objectives are just not fun and donāt allow for much variety.
Would much prefer to pick my objectives from a list when I become antag, a some sort of syndicate bounty board.
Often itās actually kind of the opposite w/ greentext
it encourages very conservative play
Iāve wondered about something like that too
also something that allows you to take on new objectives mid-round after completing what you started with, without having to ask an admin (which no one ever does)
I think it could be tuned with rewards to encourage persistent antagonism. Imagine making hijacking earnable and tuning the amount of beecoins given based on number of objectives, difficulty of said objectives, and some sort of way to roughly gauge the security of the station.
Might be a bit pipedreamy but Itād be neat if someone took a crack at it as something outside of contractors (which is likeā¦ a mediocre minigame that fucking breaks your tablet if a target disappears)
Granted what I said is basically doubling down on the idea of āGREENTEXTā but itās not terribly unfitting for LRP and MRP.
Itās mostly down to your own mentality regarding them. I often ask for more objectives once Iāve completed them, or continue to antagonise the crew in other ways once Iāve completed my objectives. Theyāre good as a starting point but mainly Iām thinking about how can I best antagonise the crew whilst making it fun for both them and me.
You can ask admins for new objectives if you think yours are boring, and as a result make the greentext itself part of the gimmick and theyāll often give them. I was an antag last week and my objectives were changed to feed all of the pets of the station to the turbine generator, and it was a ton of fun.
If you know an objective that youād want (a āgimmickā) instead of your normal objective, youāre generally free to ask an admin to change it (or ignore your objectives).
I know that @DurrHurrDurr had fun with a traitor objective of killing as many station pets as possible. Iāve given a security officer an objective to extort money from others using their position in the past, and it led to some hilarious interactions.
If i have a chance as antag, i TC trade with admins for random gimmick thingies and i use this mentality āFun above the objectiveā. Well i can have those 200 beecoins, but why get them when i can turn people into SCP-173?
beecoins
big big hat
It is a meme that is funny for a moment. Good way to show off how long you played the game too.
