The Chill Sec Charter (tm)

It’s not a solution for all cases, just the cases that involve reasonable adults who have been burned by unreasonable manchildren.

I was playing an assistant the other day and sec where being chill with a clear traitor on MRP by allowing them to ‘collect stuff’ from there office (QM)

I observed all of this and pretended to be his secetary, I told sec he was busy and to come back later; the hos and three sec officers all agreed to give him some privacy and left; he escaped down disposals and then thanked me by throwing me a codebook; later he got re-captured and lethal injection implanted, he asked me to surgically remove his implant.

I meet him in maint and we ghetto surgery it out, he thanks me and slides 500 credits before leaving.

none of this would have happened if he was dragged to perma then executed over a harmless antag item; something to keep in mind.

If we want MRP, we need to give sec some guidelines that put them above normal crew. They aren’t normal crew. They’re mercenaries at this point. Nukies with the objective of destroying station threats.

They need to become people who don’t know what’s coming, who don’t arm beat assistants for entering dorms, who don’t destroy chem every time they make a grenade.

its why ive suggested before just straight up removing cell timer power from sec officers and giving them to the lawyers on MRP would be a good idea

let them keep citation powers; it will get used more if this happens IMO

Remove lawyers, give cell timer power exclusively to warden.

You’re going to need to explain this in more detail…

I agree, that if the punishment for failing was losing your stuff and some time instead of being outed of the round, begging for a half decent ghost role, being antag man would be more fun. (MRP only, LRP chads back off)

I think a good idea might be removing ‘enemy of corp’ from capital crimes and instead into a 10 minute max timer.

Murder/possesion of a weapon ect would still be capital crimes.

This gives antags room to do gimmicks if they commit to non-lethality

it makes sec actually have to do more work too, just catching someone with valid items isnt enough anymore; you need to prove they actually did a crime like grand sabotage/murder ect; it also nerfs round start antag rushing because just catching a traitor with his pants down in maint, unlocked PDA in hand isnt anymore than an annoyance rather than round over.

This is not a capital level crime.

it’s a heavily secure research facility nobody gets weapons

when I say weapon I mean de-sword/gun ect, something clearly meant to kill

i play chill sec. traitors will and do take advantage of it, normal folk appreciate you more, you get to laugh as HoS and other officers get robusted because they want to execute someone for shoving the detective. it’s fun as long as you’re okay with dying, because you will die a lot more due to antags who see the big green check over murdering security even if they’re not discovered. if you’re cool with your legacy being “cop that doesn’t really give a shit about their job”, all good, play a foil.

normally though when two chill sec show up on the same shift they try to out-chill each other and it eventually just turns into “why brig people at all”

better idea: just have a gimmick as a sec officer. be more complicated than “boy i love arresting antags”.

here’s a few freebies. sec officer who doesn’t want traitors to get executed because they have a brother in the syndicate and don’t want the precedent to get set, so they advocate exile/gulag or standard perma.

cargo cop. embezzle some of the credits from the ID’s of people you arrest and give them to the quartermaster.

drug addict cop who will do light favors to the first botanist to give them ambrosia.

super stickler-to-space-law cop that makes lawyers look amateur

sec officer who takes bribes is a good one too

If you find an emag in someone’s bag, but you don’t find emagged doors or other signs that it has been used, do you confiscate it or perma them?

Considering this man can kill me at anytime, without warning, reason, a word, or anything, I would perma to avoid being round removed for being nice to someone. You cannot give someone trust because they will abuse it.

Play to lose, learn to enjoy fishing for midround roles or perhaps taking a posibrain and being a snide little cyborg version of yourself.

I don’t like to be round removed for being nice to a player when I am not obligated. There is no reward.

There is only regret.
“What an ass. This is what I get for being nice. Should’ve killed him when I had the chance.”

And then people are surprised when sec validhunts like no tomorrow.

Sec should valid hunt because with current rules you cannot enforce anything else.

It’s way easier to be chillsec on Golden than it is Sage just because Golden sec has the reputation for not giving a fuck. If you try to arrest people on Golden the way you do on Sage, people will robust you. I like that, sec has to be smart and work with the crew, they’re not just their own private army like on Sage.
