Incident Description: I latejoin as a CE with only one other engineer to a station low on air and a blown SM. I switched the stations power from turbine to a dedicated burn chamber with a TEG to get more power from the same input.
Later on swarmers are called and obviously doing the typical swarmer things. Nothing major until one of them gets the bright idea to break the burn chamber. The captain, Max Anders, managed to stop them before the swarmer did. However, immediately afterwards another swarmer rushes in and breaks the burn chamber, loosing the burn on atmos and the several massive areas connected because of all the eaten walls. Ahelped in round with no response, so report it is.
Additional Information: Swarmers arent supposed to breach the hull, make the place inhospitable, etc. This was a player working around the swarmer’s breach block to cause as much damage as possible.
hi hello I gotta confess that I was the swarmer who broke your burn chamber, and this was a stupid and bad thing to do but let me explain what I was thinking when it happened
I was not aware it was the sole thing powering the station, I forgot the sm had blown early in and was stressed out from the very shitty way I died as vampire so I wasnt really thinking about much other than “eat station, keep organics away from our controlled area”. I see a box full of fire and my only thought is “this will drive them out of here so we can keep eating materials”. Evac was minutes away so my assumption was that most people would be over there and not trying to combat the 1-3 swarmers that were getting owned by sec and an especially robust jannieborg.
TL:DR, I wasnt trying to cause mass destruction, I was just trying to advance swarmer territory, and did a dumb and stupid thing to achieve it. I am sorry for breaking your cool burn chamber :<
Sorry if this comes across as peanutposting, but pretty sure this also is against the whole „Ensure that the station is fit for invasion at a later date, do not perform actions that would render it dangerous or inhospitable“ law that swarmers have.
Glad that you point that out. I also gave a read to the wiki page on swarmers after reading this report and it also states that: ”Note: You are not required to follow the above laws, they are merely an indication of direction for the player in the hopes of providing good sportsmanship.”
However, in the Escalation Policy page it states: ”Must not perform any actions that make the station untenable.”
So swarmers dont necessarily have to follow those 3 laws they are given, but the one stated on the Escalation Policy, as that one is a moderated page, which in this case means the same thing.
