Evidently, I need to engineer a simple Uranium wall/door radiation collection setup with all the engineering time I’m going to have.
Gonna leave this here for future reference.

Can you just give the full details and context on that lol if you weren’t an antag, why did it go loose? Also, be careful with those type of gimmicks imo it’s always very ‘‘interesting’’ how someone that the NT company hired to be a CLOWN suddenly ask for a job transfer and is magically capable of being the perfect doctor, making teslas, singulos, etcetera. Clowns aren’t mean to be one-man army that are capable of instantly adquire the knowledge to perform something as complex as a tesla(for example) just because, dunno you wanna make tesla shuttle because ‘‘funny’’, keep your IC knowledge proper to your character rather than magically adquiring it thanks to your OOC knowledge

Clowns can be anything if its humorous, their job is to be funny. I do agree that its weird to be a one man army like if a janitor were to critique a SM setup on and then do heart surgery the next minute. Thats where clown hybridization comes in, you can still be funny and be a overall assistant to a department while viewing that department/role through a humorous lens, pulling pranks and raising the morale of your peers while also having a oddly specific and somewhat humorous knowledge in the area. Clown hybridization also brings up a lot of unique roleplay opportunities that can only happen when the funny man is not limited to staying in the theater.
The IC explanations for why a clown was assigned his role and not assigned something like station engineer all while having the knowledge of one is plentiful. [This assumes roleplay and NOT powergaming for other departments loot “just because”]

Here are instances where a role may have additional knowledge of a specific department/role that is not their own.

Assistants can get promoted to assist or to tutor apprentices of a specific department.

Security officers and deputys can be assigned to a specific department in which they may have very basic knowledge of by default. Such as knowing very basic first aid as a medical guard and apply medkit treatment when there are no doctors nearby. A engineering guard knowing how to wire up solars due to the sheer exposure of being in that department for a long time while also it being a relatively simple task in the role of a station engineer.

Lastly, the clown can be assigned a side role such as station engineer under captains permission/head of engineering permission/majority department vote/their own judgement; mainly because its entertaining to see what will happen. Obviously not every clown has a 12 page backstory on why they know everything they know, if a clown can pick a additional role through the HOP and not be a shitter than i see no problem aslong as if they genuinely try to amuse/confuse/amaze others around them. You know, like a clown!
Anyways, for the round you mentioned with the clown singulo i dont think there was anything involving greif or mallace. I was a atmospheric technician syndicate incursionist and later on the two only people of engineering (Me, Nathan) and the other station engineer (Uga Johnson) received a message from the HOP asking if the Clown can be a Clowngineer. We both said yes and the Clown was officially a Clowngineer and both a part of service and engineering. Uga Johnson asked the captain for clearance on a singulo project since there was no chief engineer. Both the Clown and Uga Johnson followed SOP as they both had clearance to set up a major powersource in DeltaStation engineering and both were a part of engineering. Later on one or both of them goofed up and lord singuloth got released to a fun climactic end to a round.

Your reasoning seems to make sense until you realise Varo has been playing a lot of different jobs accross the station as a clown, solely for reduced responsibilities because clowns are inherently given more leeway, along with boosting their clown hours.
Thankfully he’s started playing other jobs properly like with Uga

Emitters went out of power and captain turned off the PA so the LVL 1 Singularity didn’t grow (it was lose at this point but just lvl 1, also I didn’t know it was lose, as you can see on the second screenshot i was far away). I saw the PA off and I turned it on because I remembered that in the guide it says “don’t turn off the PA, just set it to 0” and me not knowing what turning it off would cause I rushed to turn it on, which gave just enough energy to the singularity to grow to LVL 2. From this point it was over.
A clown working in another department is basic clownery. Clowns aren’t supposed to make sense, you strip the job of it’s fun if you go down the route of the clown only being able to hit you with a bike horn and throw a pie at you. A clown making a tesla in the brig is funny
You are confusing rounds, since I play both Uga and that specific clown, so that couldn’t happen at th same time. Everything else yo usaid was fire though.

this. whatever that wall of text was above this post. clown hybridization lets clown doctors exist which is no fun. giving clown chem access is terrible too. they’ll just make space lube dispensaries and drug grenades.

Unironically the only thing that i’ve seen Varo’s clown do, they either tide to chemistry or get the access for either lube or chem nades, though the later is alright since they’re antags for it
Anyways if anything this conversartion should go on Varo’s feedback characther thread rather than here, back to silly images
