Rod, blackout, lavaland swarmers: rng grief with no reasonable counterplay.
Lavaland swarmers can die I wouldnât miss them at all, donât agree on the others. Idk what you mean with the blackout though, elaborate?
Bro hasnât seen a suplexed rod and it shows
Random power outage. Adds nothing to the game and often screws sensitive machinery like the gas rig
I mean, the point of those stuff is to cause issues to the station and crew, and some antags can use those events in their favour, for example a blackout to get into an out of access area, rad storm to escape(if theyâre rad proof), the chaos of a rod to do X and Y, theyâre disruptors to drive things even if we all have gotten used to them.
anyways lavaland swarmers yeah lol
Rad storm is not really a reliable way to escape because its random, you cant count on it during a hunt or a chase. And if you mean like from the prision that would only be good for like plasmamen (wich have like 0 players) and would require a means of quickly escaping in the first place wich would also require the sentence ti be long enough to justify it and⌠you get the idea
Blackout is okâish for like the 1 player playing antag that needs to steal something, for everyone else its an inconvenience, but for engi and sci the blackout may cause massive damage such as a rig/sm explosion or a server overheating (server issue is mostly fix with a recent pr)
Idk whats the point of rod, and id like to know if you can elaborate why do you think its a good addition
I think my main line of though here comes from the fact that despite me playing engi I dont actually like to waste half of the round fixing shit because rod or because blackout and also being unable to do it quickly due to lavaland swarmers
Rod
ok, sure. it really doesnât add much, huh.
Blackout
whatâs the grief? people tresspassing? thatâs half of the fun in this game.
lavaland swarmers
ask for a ripley or get good. if you want an actual convenient change disable them from making traps and attacking tendrils on lavaland instead, theyâll be far less annoying.
Sm in echo is set on fire or just outright explodes and the rig in all maps goes to at most 70% hp if you reset it instantly due to it requiring constantant cooling from thermomachines for shielding
Iâm imagining that to be a mapping oversight because the SM on other maps are meant to be excluded from the blackout. You should probably write a Github issue about it.
Ok so we can only get ores if we get a roundstart robust non antag miner and also a roboticist depending in swarmer placement rng? + discovery will either require a robust miner, luck or a good scientist⌠wich also boils down to luck at the end of the day
Didnt know they were excluded now, I was saying that based on the fact that echo sm uses thermomachines instead of heat exchange
I havenât done bee engi in ages so I may be wrong, but I believe they already be coded to be immune from the blackout, considering how things like filters and thermomachines use power
rods are a vital feature and i will die on this hill
i need to throw them at people
ALL of them are fine (even rod), the only random grief I hare to my core is the lights overload at the strart or the middle of the shift
Iâd like to remind you that all of those events create conflict and opportunity windows for antags to make their moves. Power outage? Free crowbar access for antag. Rod? Creates hazard that can isolate some locations or just gets engis out of their department leaving some objectives unobserved. Lavaland swarmers? ⌠i dont like those ⌠too much bias against them
Itâs fucking funny, only recently i fixed that
I dont mind the grid checks, but given the AGR being introduced, it might be worth giving atmos the same grace as the SMâs APC has. That way you dont have power go out while 1000+km deep and suddenly your AGR bricks in five seconds.
I definitely agree with this. The way it is now, the SM is as important to Engineering as the AGR is for Atmospherics, something goes wrong and youâre not quick enough in a response and it will blow up. Game systems should reflect these relatively equally.
If blackouts wont blow up the rig then im fine with it personally
Silly post. Are you using a GPS? With it you can see where the hungry signal is and mine completely normally by just avoiding its vicinity roundstart.
While you do that, tell the robo to make your rig. It takes only a few minutes. Maybe scan a thing or two to make it easier.
Itâs a zero-effort way to kill them after that. Just make sure ripley is mk2.
