context is always necessary. I don’t (and can’t) know the full story and this is very much a grey area. While following the letter of the rules, it is always possible to still go too far.
(I was considering encounter 1 to be the time the chef was attacked those 10 min prior aswell, however the chef took refuge and seems to have asked for help)
At the time this occurred the cook had left botany and been killed by me possibly 5-10 minutes earlier since they were alone, if that helps with context. I’d also say the cook being attacked the first time was closer to 20 minutes earlier in hindsight, but I could be wrong.
I think it would be best for everyone to stop flooding this report with various arguments and words, and instead wait for an admin. Getting this report to 30+ posts is not going to help at all, and will be more work for the assigned admin.

And for my take (spoilers)
Findings
Blake Prescott was attacked by Gage Kimple but saved, meaning they remember that Gage is “bad” and reports this to medical borg, who reports it to sec.
Gage attempts to approach Black Prescott after the fact in hydroponics, to which they have a perfectly reasonable reaction and attempt to threaten retaliation, Gage is somehow removed from the situation (I’m still a little confused but logs aren’t perfect).
Command properly raised threat level to red meanwhile, meaning botany is now allowed to grow defensive plants.
Gage comes back for round 2 (or 3 
), but this time botany fights back and throws the banana.
There was no power gaming that I can tell, though the Assistant, HoP, and the likes could probably RP better than just saying “Gage Kimple Bad!”
