I would argue the name rules are highers than most HRP servers.

So considering the absolute maelstrom that is SS13, that any RP does happen, I’m usually happy to have, but given the fact that I also derive alot of entertainment from helping to keep the station running, Personally if there isn’t much RP going on then I focus on the job I’m given.
Even If thats just bartender, my job for contributing and maintaining the station is pretty much just make sure there is good swill on tap for RP purposes.
As a miner, yeah I get really consumed by the GET MATS aspect of the job.
Sure If Science wants to do stuff or is being damn slow, I’ll talk smack over coms.
I’m also one of the dedicated Get mats miner rather than kill megafauna, which means that I’ve got a lot time to just chat on coms and be engaged in the smaller side of RP that is Common coms.
As a Seccie, I’ve gotten really caught up whenever I’m warden with all the back and forth between lawyers and other crew members about who deserves what kind of sentence, it’s usually a long back and forth that results in me being the patron saint of merciful wardens* with reductions in sentences because of all the back and forth bickering holding things up.
And as an officer, well I’m not the bane of tators but I can tell you that space law is being up held and shitcurity is being abated. The talk is also very good.
(* yes, I haven’t even executed an antag outside of lings and have even advocated for the lives of people who’ve made the cardinal sin of pissing off the captain as warden. tell me you can’t count the number of wardens who do that on your hands with a straight face.)

What you just described is NRP, not LRP.
Bee experienced both while staying under the banner of LRP.

MRP “level” but highly curated is probably the best way to describe how I see it…
I feel that there are two ways an RP server could go:
-Who are you? what are you? why? Tell me about it.
-Here is my world. This is what you can make. Please fit in.
Personally I subscribe to the former… and it seems that the server wants to go with the latter… which has certainly caused… friction… and it makes sense why there’s been such a pushback on expansion of character related rules and code.
This is not a server to be on if you want good faith character freedom and frankly… its kinda always been that way, restrictions always existed even if rarely enforced. This just seems to be the breaking point where its now being doubled down on…
This was fine when it was all that I knew, a blissful existence of generic background human, who conformed but unknowingly and uncaringly.
Getting a taste of what the other side is like makes it really hard to justify returning personally… and I think this is the same frustration that I see some kindred displaying… To them I ask if it would be better for you to just cut bee out of your life before it just makes you miserable… like I pretty much already have.
As for why its “RP not MRP.”
Hot take:
They want to be HRP but 90% of the playerbase would up and leave on hearing that dreaded acronym and pretty much every HRP server* would laugh at it, like some have been for a while now

Yeah which is a shame because I feel it’s 100% a good server for good faith interactions with characters.
People on other servers I’ve been on tend to be total asses most of the time and other than the odd shitter or shitsec (I actually think Bee security is surprisingly decent 80% and I imainge that’s thanks to admins) Bee is just filled with nice people eager to have some sort of roleplay.
Yeah that sounds about right. Like you also say I think it’s just inevitable for people to get tired and leave Bee to go somewhere else were rules are either more relaxed or actual HRP. 
Honestly I wish Bee would be clear with us on what it is and what it wants it to be.

Makes sense the more you play on LRP servers. No one actually goes on them to RP even slightly most of the time.
The most you might get is a gimmick here and there. That’s just my opinion though. 
I for once quite enjoy Beestation roleplaying most of the time. Sometimes there’s some LRP, but there’s a lot of people that play here for a while and I see them often and most of the time I can have some pleasant interaction. For example watching Zip Bebee interact with people (or humanoids) is pure pleasure.
