OldBrigSisters be seething over GenPopBros

Many of the new players that have come in the recent years have not experienced the old brig system, but those of you who did, do you ever miss it? Me, personally, I truly miss it, it made the officers have to be skilled and quick to prevent you from leaving, instead of having the turnstile being an unanimated agent in the interaction that can not be destroyed and prevents you from going in and out and allows officers to just drag you inside and remove the handcuffs with no counter, since they can just walk out of the prison and not be followed.

Turnstiles also give officers a away of coming in and out of the brig without having to go through doors, which also is a big middle finger to other players. At least doors can be hacked.

the new brig system is 100% more fun and even easier to escape from. The turnslide can be broken with a spear, so just a little alone time will easily set you free.
Not to talk about not having to stand still in a small room for such a long time and watch youtube in another window. Also getting brigged in the new system is way faster, since secoffs dont have to check what the time is for every crime.

GenPop is one of only like 3 good changes that have happened on this server in the last nearly 3 years and out of those its arguably by far the most impactful one as well.

I love the old brig. I have had actually more fun moments(Very werid right?) with the old brig.

Put your silicons in prison for breaking actual station laws, It’s fun. Even more so when an antag moves the AI there as seen in this photo

I think genpop is far more fun than cells as you can interact with your fellow prisoners and use amenities like botany or the holodeck to pass time, get out quicker or even escape.

In the old system you couldn’t even see your fellow prisoners and unless the officer basically AFK’d next to your cell while you told them how shit they were at their job you wouldn’t have anyone to talk to and you would go onto youtube.

I dont hate the old brig, but the new one, just seems to be more prisoner friendly. Also the new brig adds more ways to interact with the prisoners to all players.

The old one had flaws like:

  • Friends couldnt get a prisoner out, other than blowing up the brig entirely due to blast shutters covering half of the jail cell.
  • The box, had nothing for the prisoners to do, so they would just afk.

The only benefit was, that it was so small, it was easy to fix quickly, so you wouldnt have to start executing prisoners.

Old Jail cells were too escapable, seccies feared leaving the prisoners allone while warden wept by the emergency lockdown button , even perma brig had such aura that sec wouldnt enter without 2 sets of door bolts and riot gear

True max security vibes with the 5 minute timer of doom, counting down as the officer prayed he hadnt forgot to leave anything in the cell for the prisoner to build a arc reactor with and daring not to go back even if he did

You know when we had 3 cells I always carried Zipties because then I could Zip-tie the nitwit, put them in a Cell and let them break the Zippies into worthless garbage, I’ll still do that with the Turnstile if you’re that rude and I can’t be bothered to deal retriving cuffs.

3 Cell brig was someone sitting AFK with nothing to do but tele-crystal something, attempt to break shit or wait. At least with Gen-Pop there’s privacy that enables both sudden breakout gear and vandalism, or you know just talking with (or assaulting) other players while you wait, be they fellow prisoners or Seccies dropping in, instead of just getting shot with a disabler through the glass.

I quite like the new system. The old cells always seemed very uninteresting to me. Being stuck in a small room with nothing to do is not very fun as a player. Sure, it is meant to be a punishment, but the character should receive the punishment, not the player.

My only issue with the new setup is that we rarely have the security staff to actually prevent prisoners from escaping.
As someone who LIKES playing a good cop, the new system is much better.

>The new genpop is liked more by security players

Hmmm

(people actually made good points btw)

I think it could be nice to have a prison that has both, small cells for like 5 minute sentences or people the warden wants to have in front of them, while genpop could be somewhere else. I do think it needs to be far enough so is not convenient for officers to use it as alternative entrance

Remove the genpop entrance, replace it with a wall or window

Prisoners need to have a way of getting out

We should make CERTAIN CLOWNS (YOU) spawn in a 3x3 box with nothing but their outfits in sec so they have to BEG for forgiveness.

Serve your time, behave well, do not commit acts with a penalty longer than you as a player are willing to serve.

have an accomplice, a discrete uplink or other tool intended to enable escape. Bait an officer who’ll lean into their Job of keeping you from doing too much damage into genpop through bad behavior.

Maxcap the brig. Have a slaved golem or cyborg flying a ship loaded with emitters firing charge beam rifles into the brig wall. Release romerol in security. Build a singulo and drop a beacon near the HoS office. Beg the admins to randomly spawn an explosion in the warden’s room. Release burning tritium in the sec corridor. Lure a space dragon to the evidence room. Support pirates in raiding the armoury. Incite the ashwalkers into a station assault, then RCD apart the whole brig while security is busy putting it down. Fill the brig with cargo beacons and call deliveries down. Set prolonged release EMP grenades off in the security lockers. Put mousetrap grenade boxes in the airlocks to the brig shuttle. Kill yourself and wait until you can spawn as a wizard, then rod through all the windows. Bully dchat players until one spawns in the brig as a blob. Dox all sec players and swat them. Cultivate explosive vine kudzu and release it in the brig. Rampage through sec, smashing all the walls with a gygax. Set three compromised AIs loose with durands in the brig. Fill the main sec break room area with charged gold mobs. Empty the armoury and then aid swarmers in colonising security. Spam sugar on the hydroponics trays to fill the brig with spiders. Lure bubblegum through a hand teleporter into the security airlocks. Build an active, supercritical RBMK inside security. Build a Tesla ball field inside the warden’s room. Give all prisoners gentle bluespace crossbreeds to teleport out. Attach C4 to every weapon in the armoury on a ten minute timer. Replace the training bomb payload with an actual bomb payload. Fill every empty square in security with reinforced walls. Set shield generators with a proximity sensor to gib any officers stopping to talk in security. Shoot all of the security team with a syndicate genetics mutator-firing syringe gun, crit them, then drag them into a monkey recycler. Fill security with lubed tiles leading to input chutes that output to an emagged recycler.

Well, we have the solitary confinement cell, some maps have good placement for it

Though what’s the issue why do you want to be locked on the youtube afk box?

Can you explain why you want old 3x3 baby jail cells? Just to have short moments of opportunity to break out while officer uncuffs you? To run around like a headless chicken before being stunned again and receiving shitsec treatment for being annoying? This will just lead to old ways of needless stunning before uncuffing. If its actually the main reason, then trading spacious place with multiple opportunities to pass time or escape for the afk box is rather questionable.
