i’ve only played skyrim, is it worth going back to play some of the earlier games?

Oh my god it is, I’ve had so much fun playing Morrowind. The QoL not being there actually adds to the enjoyment because you just stroll up on more things you never would have otherwise.

Abso freakin lutely. Morrowind, while kinda jank, has some of the most unique worldbuilding and great amount of playability I’ve ever seen from a game.
Make sure you use OpenMW, this game is so loved that they literally remade an engine from the ground up specifically to run morrowind better (faster, more compatibility, more engine features, less bugs, etc) and personally it’s the only way I play.
Also I reccomend a render distance of 3 (instead of 10 or higher); whereas skyrim has all these hills and mountains and such you’re supposed to see from across the map, Morrowind is built around its original 2002 render distance, and 3 cells is a decent compromise between seeing a good distance away and keeping with the original sense of scale and distance and all that

2 mods I reccomend (besides playing in OpenMW):
Patch for Purists: fixes the bugs OpenMW doesn’t
Morrowind Enhanced Textures: Some guy used an AI image upscaler to upscale all the textures and although it doesn’t make it look like a 2022 rtx game it’s much much better than vanilla.

There’s a mod called tamriel rebuilt which looks cool but in reality will just crash your game if you want to run any other mods with it, if it even runs to begin with
Brenan is the best race with a natural 50% magic resistance.
There is an escort quest in the first hour, rewards you with “Boots of Blinding Speed”. 100% Blind, 100% move speed. Very useful if you have a natural 50% resistance.
Make items 0-100 stats. Keep putting them on and off until you get a high stat. You can reach much higher stats that a flat stat item.
There is a magic crab somewhere that is a merchant with the most amount of money. DO NOT KILL IT!!
Make a ton of Feather/Jump gear and potions. See if you can jump the map. Great way to test your PC.
Interact with all Tree Stumps you see. A random one has a special NPC.
Save before killing NPC;s. You can break a lot of quest lines if you kill the wrong NPC’s. Nothing like finding out the random NPC you killed 100 hours ago is the reason you can’t cure your Vampirism.
Sure there is more, haven’t played in decades.

As someone who loves Skyrim and has spent thousands of hours playing Skyrim. I can safely say that out of the big three of Elder Scrolls games Skyrim is in fact the overall weakest especially in terms of quests, worldbuilding, and mechanics. I love Skyrim I really do it’s one of my most favorite games of all time the exploration is amazing for example. But the game doesn’t hold a candle to the worldbuilding and atmosphere of Morrowind and the mechanics and quest design of Oblivion.

Orcs are the fastest becuse sometimes poop is runny because they are the heaviest which makes them very very fast, 50% faster by my rough testing in OpenMW

Be me. Install a bunch of mods to improve morrowind.
Injest 1000 skooma. I am now sonic the hedgehog, too fast for vivecs eye. Run around the entirety of vrandenfell in under five minutes.
THERE ARE SO MANY PLACES I NEVER VISITED BEFORE EVEN THOUGH IVE PLAYED HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF THIS GAME.
