Abstract

Due to the problem of medibots being an unreliable source of healing, I have changed their round-start contents to include a TriaMed bag (40u bicaridine, 40u kelotane and 20u epi) to teach players that they still exist and can be used to heal. In addition Medbay’s which lacked a medibot has been given one.

Background

Currently as it stands, medibots are practically useless and ignored. After their change (similar to the sleeper change) to accept any customized chemical, they have been unjustifiably nerfed to the point of teaching both old and new players that medibots will not heal you. On the off chance that a chemist or doctor does fill it, they will still be ignored due to the players’ incorrect perception of medibots not being an option to heal you.

Part of the problem is that medibots used to be available to heal you on round-start and its capability of healing you would scale with R&D research in their respective field. Since the PR changing medibots, they now only start with epinephrine.

Goal

  1. Make Medibots a more attractive method of healing.
  2. Teach players that the Medibot will heal them.

Method

To make them able to heal anyone, including oozlings, they have been given a customized bag I’ve called “TriaMed” containing 40 units of bicaridine, 40 units of kelotane and 20 units of epinephrine. This will easily stabilize those on the brink of death and even those slightly wounded. This has been applied to all medibots in Medbay. In effect, this change will teach players that any medibot on round-start will be able to heal you and make them more attractive, solving both goals.

In addition. Medbay’s previously missing a medibot has been given one, all the prefilled chemistry fridges has been given a bag of TriaMed and all Chemistries has also been given one bag of TriaMed.

Future

Hopefully this will teach players the usefulness of medibots and make them a more reliable source of healing when required in a pinch. This will hopefully have the side effect of making departments desire them again such as Security, Mining and Exploration.

I’m hoping to see all the different colored medibots being made by roboticists once more now. They might as well have been cut for bloat with how little usage they got post-nerf.

It may be worth giving the emergency medibot on the escape shuttles a TriaMed bag as well

Is it possible to fill medibots with gondola toxins as antag of cource

Though I do like them being able to use bandages to stop bleeding

This is out of scope for this PR, this simply gives them some round-start medicine.
