I can see that, but you already have an ion rifle which has a fair few shots and is AOE. Not to mention flashes that everyone carries on them. Everyone getting a ~6 shot 3x3 aoe instant fuck you to all things silicon would be a reasonable change to make.
EMPs and ions need to be nerfed to fucking heck anyways. They are too damn powerful for how easy you get them. Wanna kill a seccie? Drop a bit of iron into some uranium and fucking fry that bitch on the spot. They’ll be stunned, disarmed, alone, helpless.
EMP act should instead be like a random chance or something.
One issue with nerfing EMP is the possibility that it unintentionally would buff nanoots.
They are probably too powerful, it’s just if you don’t have an EMP you stand 0 chance unless you have a god tier weapon. And even then, soon as the first EMP comes out they’ll learn and ?shotgun
A tale as old as time, 1 tap them or get 1 tapped yourself, basically unfixable unless you rework every thing borgs have access to…
Engi borgs have infinite use stun baton, medborgs have uncounterable injections if they have the module, eggborg can pacify then beat you to death if you dont have a flash, etc.
If borg side ever gets removed then EMPs could just do burn damage… generally unrepairable without human intervention or repair modules. IIRC battery has to be removed to add wires…
EMPs should not deal any significant damage, but should make it harder to do what you want to do.
exactly. Remove modules from your hands, temporarily disable one or more slots, remove charge, fuck with your light and camera, hell maybe even temporarily disable lawsync and wipe/scramble them.
I did make a suggestion thread on how to fix EMPs.
But then again, it’s an idea. Someone has to actually have the knowledge and desire to implement this. Maybe I’ll get it in the future, maybe someone else will or perhaps… no one will.
Maybe Ion carbines should be a special order item? Just add one into the armory like the temp gun and require any more of them to be ordered (or also found during explorer missions).
If sec really needs EMP weapons early, they can just make iron-uranium chem grenades
Ion carbines are a research item, they already have an ion rifle in the armory which is essentially an ion carbine that can’t fit in your bag. Removing it from the techfab and adding the normal rifle to cargo is probably the best solution. Everyone getting to keep one in their bag is a bit of a bridge too far.
To be fair, this would make mechs even stronger than what they are. Mech repair speed should be lowered to allow them to be fought reasonably.
I think mechs should be powerful, but they should also be rare. That’s why I liked the mech license idea where you have to get something from cargo whether it’s paywalled “software” or the chassis to make a full fledged combat mech. Then you could let mechs be very potent and balance them through rarity.
Right now you can just shit them out en masse provided you have the materials for them, and against security they’re a wet noodle unless you pre-emptively do a lot of shit while against antagonists it’s a stomp.
The fact that anyone can stand to play AI is what realy terrifys me.
Robots are cool
Robots arent cool
I’m not gonna lie, if we want to have terrifying A.I. giving them more means to utilize machines remotely rather than just clicking them on a camera would greatly help.
An A.I. is intended as a central intelligence wired into every digital system in the station to oversee, assist and automate the operation of various components and machines all at once, having a large board beyond the camera net which can directly input into a lot of machines plugged into the station could achieve this.
Skipping say, Microwaves, ORMS, Vending machines and such, but having computer consoles, chemical/drink dispensers, and any device that pulls up a dedicated screen for use along with the dumb bots around the station on a list for control would be very good for this.
There is already a way to remotely Access APCs without camera access HOWEVER Silicons cant use it. It’s the CE’s Power flow computer in their office, It can remotely Kill APCs or switch their power settings. Only Non-silicon people can use the computer.
Might have the Name of the computer wrong.
Unless there’s been a significant malf update very recently, a lot of this just boils down to skill issue. Malf AI does best when you utilize your overwhelming knowledge advantage to misdirect the crew. You are strongest when nobody knows what’s going on. Create the narrative you want, enforce it, and pick important people off as a result of the chaos you make.
Access robot control command pulls a list of all bots on station and lets you power them on/off, give call commands, etc.
In my few hours of playing A.I. having this for pretty much ALL airlocks on station would be useful, for both EVIL purposes and for “DOORKNOB PLEASE HEEEEAAAAALP!” Purposes, simply a bot control list for airlocks on APCs the A.I. has access to.
@Rust Damn, well the A.I. can already control all APCs on station if it looks at them, wouldn’t know why this terminal isn’t networked, probably just a result of A.I. gameplay balance at the time of it’s implementation and any recent updates.
