the library right now is filled with shit, for every actual book that required time to write some shitter filled it with 50 copies random garbage or some shit meme, the library needs either a purge or a team to sift throughout all the shit, I personally wouldn’t mind spending days, weeks and maybe even months sifting throughout dogshit litterature just so it’s not a shit infested mess
There also needs to be some sort of approval system before a book gets sent to the library, as of right now you can put and piece of crap into the library any time you want
Maybe have like a monthly post that has players propose books to remove and vote on it? I feel like a approval system would require a admin to approve of the books, and I doubt that admins would bother approving books/have the time. Either that or maybe add some way to “rate” books through the library? I know it’s a WYCI moment but some kind of system to rate books either positive or negative could be used as a way to remove bad books.
Having to cull huge swathes of the library trying to whittle the content down to the most refined work possible sounds traumatically boring. Why not instead create a ‘sanctioned’ literature section labelled with something like ‘best-sellers’ where books considered decent or, dare I say, good are placed? Though I suppose this is only really a semantic change when you first have to rake through all the current books to find something worthwhile. Instead, maybe it could be fun to host some book writing competitions? Where the top ten books get put into the best sellers and the others either get put in with the rest or get their own slightly less prestigious category.
I think there’s a lot of potential for books, such as having an IC way to read lore or document things like guides. The only thing that holds it back is a complete lack of curation, and unless someone wants to spend the rest of their life sifting through stale memes and soft-core pornography, I’d say start fresh and encourage the community to write quality literature, rather than fishing around for the one-in-one-hundred half-decent books.
I read pretty fast and could do this in about a day or two. Unfourtunatly im a fucking wage slave without even that much free time this month and the time I do have Id rather spend playing. X.x
Id start by just categorizing all the meme shit like bee movie script and what not. Thats an easy purge at least.
