The central argument is indeed “it sounds like another word, so we don’t allow it”. The particular logic regarding IC specisism isn’t really in question. People don’t really need an excuse beyond playing a character that doesn’t like non-human characters, beyond playing the character.
Genuine question to the admins on this topic, would the term “lizzer” be more acceptable?
That was the thrust of one of my earlier posts, regarding the slippery slope (which is generally a fallacious argument - but I do see that applying here). Where is the line drawn? How are the players to know where the line is drawn?
Won’t let me edit again, so -
What words are okay to say, which will get you boinked for sounding too similar to IRL slurs? Is “Mike” okay, even though it sounds like Ki*e? Is Mink okay, even though it sounds like ch**k (ugh, late. The bad word for Asian people.)?
Oh no, somebody tought about saying a word then changed a letter from the word, what happens when you change two letters? why don’t we forbid all players to type anything just to be safe in case somebody wants to offend another specific group of players?
you put a freespech filter you get it filtered, ■■■■■■ was a specific term to say about an specific race that only exist in a game. if you can’t stand someone making fun of a literal game only race then just remove the ability to communicate.
This guy is trying so fucking hard, jfc.
yes.
that’s spam doe
yeah it could just be a short 30 minute ban or whatever to get the point across, like with the “look at the rules” bans.
yeah, if it’s such a big deal just leave
yeah but again you’ve “argued till you’re blue in the face”. if being able to say ■■■■■■ is such a big deal just go somewhere else, because clearly in your mind that is more important than the “superior codebase”
exactly
should i stop when I get banned? I can’t tell please somebody tell me
l word should be allowed

Would this be a reasonable compromise:
You can say it and it isn’t filtered, but you actually have to direct it at an actual lizard rather than just screeching it over comms for le memes.

yes, that’s good.
Yeah that seems reasonable. I think that’s what everyone is asking. Other uncommon stuff like “nyaaggers” (for catgirls) which don’t have the history of “■■■■■■” I’d be fine with staying gone. Like stop ripping off the n-word/■■■■■■, make a new insult lol
That is very much my argument, yes. Applying words to players playing characters that are allowed by the rules, instead of as a means to evade the word filter.
