Kilo Medbay Remake Feedback Threat #1

wtf this is kinda cute? But whats up with viro being a single cube :trolleybus:

The amount of patients that need a room in viro is basically 0, that almost never happens.

Virology doesn’t need anything else

based honestly

Just because there are no patients doesnt mean the RP opportunity may arise.

Also If your workspace is cramped and awful you will feel mentally worse. This is called… something… I don’t remember

Virology is removing from the game what’s the point on making a whole lot of space for RP when the room is going to be vines and empty space

That is called “KiloStation”

This is a terrible mentality. Just because you haven’t had any interesting interactions with virology, it doesn’t mean it’s not possible.

Making virology smaller is just going to confirm the way you think about the department.
Reducing the number of pandemics only makes this even worse by making no one want to join as a second virologist which makes for some fun interactions.

Maybe instead of making the problem worse, you try to make it better? Like bringing virology closer to where the doctors work (like genetics on rad), or even with a desk facing into a hallway (like xenobio on rad).

I just realized that there weren’t 3 pandemics but rather one of them was a chem master. I will add the second back!

There is simply no space to do that here unless I remove this plumbing room and put virology there, next to the hallways.

But then, why do you need so much space in virology and also what do I do with all the rest of the hallway?

I guess I could build the plumbing room in horizontal where viro/lower half of plumbing is and make virology paralel to chemistry (???) That doesn’t sound bad either

I just realized that I lost all the progress made on the plumbing area so I wll be trying what I just said shortly

Or… you could move the whole plumbing area inside maintenance to the west. As using your logic :

almost nobody uses the chemlab room since they ruined the chem source machines.

I was gonna write a big wall of text comparing it to other stations’ virologies, but instead, I’ll just say: You’re missing a room for patients, room to make working with the monkeys not a nightmare, a bed for vector, I didn’t see any extra extrapolators (might be in the one and only biohazard locker, dunno), and alot of stuff to allow 2 virologists to work together without having to wait on the other doing something (a second pandemic, a second biohazard locker, floor space/desk space to have multiple bottles of samples, a second fridge for storing samples). Also what’s the point of the airtight flap between virology and the plumbing room (which btw, is just a room with even LESS interaction and LESS use)? Oh and can packages from cargo find their way to virology, be it through the mule bot or the disposals system?

This plumbing room is too small and cramped to place anything meaningful inside of it.
TG did this, but I don’t like their solution at all tbh

Holy shit maint is just GONE

Yeah I’m not doing that

I’ve had some good ideas out of this

Plumming? No one cares. Yeet it!

I’ve seen a virologist use the rooms for monkey experiments. Even if they have no practical gameplay usage I’d argue they could be considered as some thematic and ascetic decoration part of Virology. It might not be the primary core design of it but makes it cozy and authentic to simply have it.

There is a gameplay reason for it, btw. A high severity virus with mutations is a “good” way to get missing level 9 symptoms. So you’d give your monkeys a deathplague, wait for it to mutate, hope for level 9 symptoms, cure the monkeys, do it all over again.

I’ll see what I can do

Let’s be real there are a few things you can cut:

You’re missing a room for patients

A bed or two inside viro is all that’s needed. you don’t need a room for this.

and alot of stuff to allow 2 virologists to work together without having to wait on the other doing something (a second pandemic

kilo is low pop, i really hope there will never be two viros working at the same time on kilo. have only one work station

Making virology smaller is just going to confirm the way you think about the department.
Reducing the number of pandemics only makes this even worse by making no one want to join as a second virologist which makes for some fun interactions.

viro is being removed as a round stat job, that statement is backed by the head dev. that isn’t to say to remove the viro room, but in the same way that any new map being worked on now should take into consideration miners mining asteroids on the station, so too should viro be reduced in size to reflect that it is no longer a job.
