Starting from the beginning, I was observing the round when I notice a strange syndicate message, only to look over to see Johnny Witherspoon in xenobiology with a holoparasite, Johny talking directly to ghosts over comms.
Later on in the round, Johnny finds an unconscious moth being dragged to medical, takes them from the borg with a promise to bring them to medical, then brings them to xenobiology instead to shard them (?) and RR them. End of round report showed the moth was not a target.
I can say as the holopara, their intent with the moth was to make them a shard and make them obedient to them, when it didn’t work they asked the now shade if they wanted to be reincarnated as a slime. When Raspberry agreed they killed the shade and offered the slime as a spawn. The rest yeah they were repeatedly talking directly to ghosts
I’ll admit after they addressed the ghosts several times I did talk to one near us, instructing it to use chairs so we knew what it wanted as Johnny couldn’t get it to accept a role: Pretty sure the ghost was messing with johnny though
regarding the ghost talk part. altough it yeah it sounds very NRP’ish considering ghost chat tends to only desire midround antagi’sh roles some xenobio/chap players may get used to the idea that it’d be rarther difficult to get ghost players in their mob critters. since there’s the subset who just ghost call you and just go… be free do wharever. witch only SOME players can make fun out of.
if you are an antag and rather desperately need those ghosts it would make sence to TRY and do some advertising that. YES IT WILL BE A GOOD GHOST ROLE PLEASE JOIN I BEG YOU. even ive tried it with a bit more RP flare. when ive been in a desperate need of ghosts to fill the roles ive worked on for half the shift to prepare
so yeah on one hand its a bit LRP’ish but on the other. they may have been rather desperate. not the first time ive seen it either ingame
and to be fair fair… if we wanna be verbose. ghosts do technically canonically exist in the ss13 universe even tho the sentience potions dont refer to them
in particular, it was pretty high pop and I had constructed my entire traitor loadout with a sentient army in mind, so I didn’t really have anything to fallback on when for about an hour or two no ghost roles were taken, save for a cardboard golem
before this round I didn’t really know that bee ghosts didn’t like xenobiology or chaplain ghost roles, even though I play both of them often, because I’m usually on during lower pops
as far as talking to ghosts, I had a sniffer up in xenobio and didn’t see the problem with advertising to ghosts because there was a bit of a disconnect between knowing how the sentience potion worked mechanically and in universe, but I definitely don’t think it constitutes a lack of roleplay
as far as the botanist goes, I think it’s absolutely fine to kidnap someone who isn’t an objective to further your goals, and my goal at the time was trying to salvage all my xenobio setup so that I could actually progress my objectives, and I don’t see how any of it would constitute not being excellent to others
I’ve been meaning to add onto this. I questioned on the discord after the round, and this response just makes me feel like the intentions were entirely wrong. I, myself, wasn’t sure what this broke, but it does add context for intentions.
Don’t know how to do the fancy linking partial text but this here would fall under antagonist conduct rule 4.6. An isolated killing to pursue an objective, as they sharded them thinking they’d be able to immediately take the ghost role as a shade iirc.
Don’t use IC chat for OOC communications in general - while there are a few cases where it’s acceptable to acknowledge the player ghosts, these situations are paranormal in nature. A sentience potion makes a creature gain sentience, but you shouldn’t be acknowledging IC that it is a ghost granting that sentience.
As for the killing:
The isolated killing of non-targets through low-collateral means in an attempt to pursue a gimmick is allowed.
But please don’t kill people just to increase the ghost count.
