Dude, don’t make yourself look like incapable of doing that, put some effort into it, suggest changes but also how would you want to other things be solved.
You cannot get them in, because just throwing them on the main servers without any testing is a seriously crappy idea. You’re the one not getting, that support doesnt come from fucking nowhere, just because you talked about it. I’ve given you ideas on how to get helpers in other threads and just giving up now is seriously not helping you in achieving that goal. Yes you cant put in new damage values because 1.the code doesnt even exist. 2. Noone knows the effect on the playerbase and gameplay. And a lot of the playerbase wont like having combat reworked without convincing them first. There’s a test server for a reason where major stuff is tested. If you want to give up, fine, never talk about your ideas ever again. Noone will notice. But dont blame us as the incompetent ones.
if this isn’t something that you think is good or worthwhile, then there is nothing I can do. I refuse to code it, because to do so would weaken community consent. this is either something we want, or it does not happen.
Im pretty sure that’s not what we mean. I get the whole thing of wanting the community to back something before it happens but with this, It’ll need to be coded and tested before it would have a chance at being completely looked at in a PR. Since these changes would certainly effect the game, if testing wasn’t done there wouldn’t be a way to find out what it would do without testmerging onto the servers, which won’t be allowed since it could really mess up the flow of the games with the kind of change here.
We all agree on this, if your ideas have a chance at being fully added, you should code and test it. Then, come back with what you found from testing, rework it, and if it’s gotten to a good point, make a PR! People have to vote on PRs aswell, so it wouldn’t be the community not wanting something that gets added.
So yeah, people likely won’t back your idea if there isn’t any proof that it would be a good addition. If you code it, test it out with some buddies and rework it until it’s as good as it’ll be, then come back with your findings, people might support it more since now they know what effect it would have. Since we don’t know how much it would effect the meta and everything, we’re a bit more hesitant to back it.

I don’t have any intention of closing this one. As long as posts about melee balance and Jellico keep going up, I’ll fight for it to stay open. It serves as a good containment thread, and it has potential to become the biggest thread on the site.
What do you mean by “work together”? This gives greytide better weapons so the only realistic counterbalance I can see is giving security and general crew similarly or more empowered weapons to combat the quantity and robustness of veteran tiders.
This is beestation, you can’t convince people in the same department to work together, much less people in multiple departments. This is extremely unrealistic.
