Since I retired the character I am swapping between them, but Jean was my main for a long time.
The problem I always run up with admins it is that I never do the thing that I was told not to do on reasonable grounds, but OOC can’t get the concept of powergaming beyond following the rules, using only your departments equipment and follow sop.
So, if you have genuine instructions on some things I should not do, I will try to not do them. This is the most digestible kind of information for me.
Otherwise feel free to write the salt or sweet. (Mostly salt i assume)
Having worked with you a fair bit (as well as other admins), I want to say there’s a reason we’ve given so many chances for improvement much to the apparent frustration of others. The questions you ask when we have had to speak with you and the clear willingness to improve, even if still messing up afterwards do a lot for showing you’ll be a great player with time.
While you do cause problems, you’re one of the best kinds of people to work through those problems with because of that.
I’d like to ask everyone to give constructive feedback and criticisms and remind everyone to keep it civil when doing so.
I don’t have much feedback apart from that I genuinely respect how earnest you are in wanting to improve your actions. It takes a lot to reflect on behaviour and improve, but it takes infinitely more to do this opening yourself up to public feedback. Good on you for that.
That being said, I’ve really enjoyed our rounds together recently, especially the brief lowpop round we did where you were heretic and I unfortunately had to leave early. You seemed focused on engaging us with a compelling character and if I had been able to stay I think I would’ve had a great time.
If I had to say anything that might help, it would be just to get used to the mindset that losing is fun. I generally enjoyed Jean on anything but sec.
And I think this is why. Just because you do have access or the know how to do something, doesn’t mean you need to or even should do it. I know xenobio like the back of my hand, and while yes, I could certainly make myself a bunch of things that would either make me generally unkillable or just a pain in the ass to deal with, it doesn’t mean I should. More often than not, I find myself having the most fun when I have deliberately gimped myself. Letting someone into my department who is clearly sketchy who then holds me hostage, following someone down a maintenance shaft and getting turned into a vampire thrall, that sort of thing. I’m not saying to try and get killed or anything, just maybe let things slide or “forget” things more often as sec. Like I said before, any time Jean wasn’t sec, I enjoyed them a lot. There’s not really a list of things not to do, you just gotta ask yourself “Ok is this fun for the other person too, or just for me?”
TL;DR: Try to “lose” in fun ways, or intentionally gimp an aspect of your character.
