Help me make video guides! (SM&Engie edition)

I want to make some video guides

We’ve been talking a lot lately about Bee’s population, and some key points I’ve taken away are that we need to attract players better, and facilitate new players to learn the game in fun ways.

I have reasonable video editing capabilities with DaVinci Resolve and CapCut and I figured I would offer to create a fully narrated video guide series!

I’m starting with a script for super matter setup and engineering.
I have a rough draft ready, and I’ll happily share the whole script once I get some feedback on what people think should be included as content.

Here is a list of segments I have included so far

-Supermatter safety and PPE
-Tools!
-Pipes and Gasses
-Configuring your first engine
-Generating power
-Surges, sabotage and you!
-Improving your setup
-Alternative power sources (help, the SM exploded, now what?)

Before I get deeper into this script I would love some feedback on sections that could be added, removed, combined or reordered.

I’m also looking for suggestions on what would be within the scope of a more generalized engineering tutorial.

Having easily accessible information that is in an entertaining format would give new players a reason to flock to Bee station. Combine that with our robust mentor team and I think that Bee could easily be one of the most appealing servers for new players to try out.

I’m aware that we have had people make SM videos in the past, but they’re horribly outdated now, being from before combat mode, Linda, etc.

Let me know your thoughts, and if you’d like to help work on these videos. I want to start making clips and finish the script ASAP to push out a first draft in video format.

Gases should be split and be after improving your setup if you’re talking about gas types, unless that’s just general stuff about how all gas behaves then its fine.

This sounds great! I’d definitely recommend recruiting people who specialise in engineering for this one, and if you make any other videos in the future, grab people who main that department. They’ll definitely know what the most important things to include will be and (hopefully) how to teach it effectively

It would be funny if they were edited sort of like an 80s corporate training video, cheesy music, transitions and all. But I know that’s asking for a lot lmao

COOLING. COOLING. COOLING.
Heat build up IS the enemy, you need powered coolers or radiators for AS MUCH cooling as possible, Talk about how to fit the vent and gas system for maximum cooling.

I want the section on pipes and gasses to be about how gasses generally move from pipe net to pipe net, and how pressure, temperature and volume work.

I definitely want the video to be entertaining, rather than dry or boring so I can try to add some sort of flare and humour like this.
I’m not sure i have the chops to do a full on ‘80s workplace training video though

Just record the thing and I’ll edit it, it’s been a while since I’ve edited a few things.

I’ll try to record some clips by the end of this weekend.
It would be cool if I could get 1-2 other engineering mains to make fun clips with me on a private instance of Bee.

If you want to help with editing I’m all for it.
Many hands make light work.

My main goal with this is to have fun, make something cool, and help new players so as long as we’re all on that same page I think it will be a good project.

I have a pretty decent microphone so I’m totally willing to do the narration and voice over.

I’d be willing to help with demonstrating pipenet function

I’ll certainly hit you up for this.
I think I have a decent understanding of pipenets, but I’m pretty certain you have a better grasp on it than I do, which means you can definitely help to explain it more simply and accurately.
