its a easy mistake to make, rule of thumb always space atmos when there is a fusion running or make a 1x1 space hole with normal glass around it
Banning people for mistakes in a newbie server in a game where shit can literally destroy huge segments of the station from small mistakes lmao.
If you want to be a newbie server you can’t ban people for making mistakes like this. You even have multiple admins in the thread that didn’t know about issues this setup could have (the holofans breaking).
Several people in OOC were saying this is the second time the guy has done something like this. I just kinda took their word for it because why would someone lie in OOC after being roundended :^)?
TBF, fusion at this scale isnt exactly a newbie thing
Being a server welcome to new players doesn’t mean that players are not responsible for their actions.
I mean we have multiple admins in the thread who didn’t know what happened was even a thing that could happen.
First time there was a chemist yelling over the radio that shes gonna blow up the whole station. Unless someone comes to her unarmed and alone. So in my greatest wisdom i decided that i will go to her to the dorms butt naked with sum rads. Then hos arrived then cap then sec and i tried to leave but cap and hos shot her so she. Did as she said. And blew us up. I was dead and couldnt really do anything about it.
unban would be nice doe
She used a circuit to tie her death to the explosives. When she died it all went boom. Advanced stuff
isnt there a health sensor that pulses out when you die/crit
I’m not confident in that thus my mention of circuits
you can in fact use a health analyzer to tie your vitals to a signaler.
seriously though why is this guy getting anything more than a three day ban, seven day job ban tops. the “take responsibility for your actions” stance is bogus because
- this wasn’t even this dude’s setup to begin with
- new player experimenting with atmos was doing so in a way they fully believed was safe, thinking based on solid prior knowledge that holofans would block atmos flow but learning the hard way they’re not immune to new shit popping up on their same tile
- outside circumstances led to a perfect shitstorm of open airlocks and too-slow firelocks that spread this thing all over in the blink of an eye, how do you stop that
guy did everything right with the knowledge he had, and obviously if admemes are learning alongside him, it’s not as though he did something grossly incompetent.
i dunno. but the fact that i killed most of the pop might factor into it. but as you said, i did my best with the knowledge i had
man, dumber engis get the SM blown up and the shuttle called all the time without punishment, yeah it’s shittier for the round to end because everyone is dead vs because the shuttle got early-called but someone else’s poorly-secured fusion setup getting loose because of holofans being flimsy lil shits isn’t cause to give a second-offender this much time.
Blowing up chemistry with meth doesn’t kill 50 people.
Just FYI since I haven’t replied here yet, I am aware of this appeal but I’ve been trying to get further input before doing anything.
Not a new player.
I do agree that banning for accidents is generally not a great idea but it’s a little different when it kills literally everyone on the server instantly.
Going to try and get some more input from other admins before resolving this, I apologize for the delay on this. I’ll try and get this resolved semi soon.
This appears to be a mistake, but you did kill the entire station.
I’d be happy to apply the normal punishment for delaminating the supermatter or turning it into a singularity, which is the first one is free.
Time served for the ban and the effort of making the appeal should be fine.
If you make the same style of mistake again, there will be a server ban and it will be longer.
It’s a bit unrelated but I find it funny that the guy who actually build this whole fusion didn’t get any punishment originally but got banned next day for quite simmilar action with fusion.
Server ban has been lifted.
Engineering ban has been reduced to 10 days since due to the incident earlier that day I don’t feel it should be entirely lifted.
If you have any issues connecting let me or another admin know.
If you’re new to fusion you might as well be, SS13 is pretty much a series of totally nonconnected minigames. I’ve played hundreds of hours on Bee and I can’t tell you fuck-all about how the supermatter works or about how to fix a plasmaflood. I have no idea what toxins even is aside from it making a fake boom periodically.
I’m inclined to agree, as already stated I don’t ban people for accidents unless it’s a repeat thing.
But it’s a little different when the entire station gets nuked instantly.
To be honest damage at this level that isn’t intentional is not something I’ve had to deal with much.
