I’m hesitant to contribute much to this conversation as a relatively new player to SS13, but I will say that I think it’s really cool to see an admin speaking up about these sorts of issues because a) it shows that as an admin you are concerned with more than control ect and want a place for people to genuinely have fun and b) SS13 communities can be a toxic echo chamber and an admin opening up this kind of discussion is more likely to encourage open-mindedness.

I agree that Antagonists are overrated, what can be done to change that? I’ve switched from chemist to doctor recently and found it a highly rewarding position, and I truly don’t mind not being antag, but I’m not sure other players feel that way. What can be done to make players want to engage in their jobs/roles more?

I also really agree with point #4 in that Beestation’s identity doesn’t feel like much beyond being ‘different from other servers’. I think that’s partially because it strives for an RP balance, but compared to other servers I’ve played on (albeit, not many), I’ve always felt like we have the least amount of unique/ in depth content. I may be wrong but I believe this is due to Beestation’s code being largely derived from /TG/ station but also removing some of it’s features, while not doing anything to replace them. Again, I may be wrong/misinformed but I generally feel one of Bee’s flaws is it’s lack of content compared to other servers.

I’d love to hear other peoples thoughts on this too. Is beestation going to get better as time goes on (because it’s only 2-3 years old)? Or does it need a more cohesive vision for the server it wants to be? What would that vision be? I notice the admins posting on here alot (Archanial, Bloons, francium, perishedfraud), but I rarely see coders on here (perhaps they don’t have a fancy tag like admins). Maybe I’m still all too new to the forums though.

Your input is welcome; do not worry.

Personally for me, Bee’s strongest point is the occasional intensity (Cult base raids and peeks of rev rounds where sec has turtled in the brig) and being chill with other people

lifeweb is unironically an extremely good place to pull inspiration for an RP server from. if not for ERP mechanics it’d be a fantastically dark place, as is intended by the setting. it is built to where admins never involve themselves in the round. highly on board with bringing in lifeweb-inspired code

beeweb? god be saved

thats after interbee warfare, which is after clover

You’re also forgetting BGMC, USBeeStation

POV:You would rather drink bear in a bar in ss13 than go out IRL
day ruined

Was just reading the thread but had to stop to write this, I would rather make people watch Livrah videos where you can see plenty of moments where people not valid hunt and react accordingly in an RP way to the situation than following sseth video

Fun is a meaningless buzzword.

i agree, antags in an RP environment shouldnt serve to complete an objective, but to create the conflict needed for a fun narrative, making their job not to beat the shit out of people and “win” but to make the game fun to play for others.
