Post sent too soon moment
So I am basically supposed to hinder security at that point? Like I said I enjoy assisting the day to day crew with their jobs, not track antags. Also it seemed like the captain had cooled off the security team and it didn’t seem like they would commit any more harm. Which I believe they didn’t for the rest of the shift.
This whole situation was caused(by I would say a powergamey) antagonist putting everyone in a no win situation.(you can find parallels to this in real life). I don’t think anyone wanted to harm anyone(well except the antagonist) and after this was over the round was really chill. If it was my intent to validhunt don’t you think I would actively continue to track antagonists?
Yes, I do.
You very clearly took a side when you should not have.
You actively facilitated the removal of someone from the round for causing harm and had next to no reaction when they themselves were harmed. You make an unbelievable claim that you didn’t have any reason to believe security would harm them.
Yes. If security is harmful you should actively hinder them until your laws are changed or you are given reason to believe they will no longer be harmful.
It’s important to allow yourself to be convinced that the harm won’t happen again so you don’t end up permanently locking them down, but it shouldn’t just be a hand wave away when they team exterminate someone in a public hall.
Yes this was a no-win situation - harm was definitely going to occur, but it’s still important to do everything in your power to prevent it. Antagonists rely on unaltered AI to at least attempt to defend them in general.
Additionally, while I don’t have a lot of experience dealing with you, I saw the rest of your logs for the round: You seem to be a fantastic AI, especially at acting the part of being a machine. You just had an issue with maintaining neutrality in this case, and seem to think I’m trying to force black and white.
Points to take away:
- ALL crew is crew, regardless of affiliation or intention. Even harmful crew must be protected from harm as best you can. You should strive to maintain neutrality with this at all times rather than valuing some crew over others.
- Anyone that harms crew should be treated as harmful to crew, regardless of apparent motivations or intentions. There is one exception to this for Surgery. (We do not have an exception for self-harm like TG does. Someone threatening or consenting to self-harm should be detained and prevented from harming themselves. You are not subject to following “AI, do this or I hurt myself” )
- How much harm someone does is important to consider:
- Accidental harm can be glanced over
- A fistfight is harmful and should be broken up, but you wouldn’t go locking people down over it
- Killing is very harmful and is probably worth locking down
- Unrecoverable bodily destruction is potentially worth treating someone as permanently harmful. (There would definitely be an exception where it’s outside of the killer’s control, such as with holoparasites)
- Self defense is still harmful, but is deserving of more lenience after the fact, especially if they are cooperative with your demands.
Would this not be the case here? I don’t think the security team directly harmed the crew mate, they attacked the holoparasite which indirectly lead to harming the crewmate.
According to the wording it was outside securities control that the crewmate was dusted. Therefore they did not commit crew harm. At least that is how I’m reading it.
Could I pleaseee get this note removed. I take my command and AI roles VERY seriously and this note has a huge effect on my integrity as a player. I was following my laws to the best of my ability with the information I had at the time. You even saw how seriously I take the role from the rest of the logs.
If I thought I was doing wrong at the time I would of acted differently. I appreciate the education. I now have a better understanding on how to interact with antagonists, how not to take sides, and this situation wont happen again. This note is really stressing me out.
Yes it would be the case, I don’t expect you to hold security responsible for unwilfully destroying the body, but they did still wilfully kill crew.
Could I pleaseee get this note removed.
No.
Every incident of wrongdoing is recorded as a note, whether intentional or not. Even mistaken issues are recorded to ensure the player doesn’t just claim it was a mistake repeatedly.
Your record is still very clean and you have a better record than a number of admins do even. You should look up the bans for our recently stepped down Head Admin Bloons3.
Notes are only held over your head if they stack up for similar offenses, or you get a lot of notes across a short span of time.
Could you possibly update the note to show I now have understanding of my wrongdoing? The current note looks REALLY bad.
I can append that, yes.
Do you mind if I trim this discussion and append it to the player report so others can see it?
If you like.
Since there was actually a dispute after the acknowledgement, I’ve moved it here for transparency. I had originally intended to trim unimportant posts from this before doing so, but since there’s not really an active report to clutter up any more, I just opted to leave them as is.
